Town Hall, Town of Cortlandville
2nd Board Meeting of the month of June.
Presiding, Supervisor Frank K. Taylor, other members present were
Justice Don Eaton,Councilmen Sherman Griswold and Henry Wadsworth.
® Justice Ron Fish was absent because of illness.
Others present At this meeting were, Town Engineer, Wm. Howell,
Town Attorney John J. Gardner, Town Highway Supot. Harry Cooper and
Fred Walker, Water Department. Also, present were W.G.Heaslip of
Abdallah Ave. and Phil Allen of Allen Drive®R. Krauklis,bookeeper.
Appearing before the Board were Attorney Jim Woods,(representing
Mr. Louis Sosnowich) Mr. Louis Sosnowich, Architects, Joseph Bova and
Dave Evers of the Firm of Tarley,Steivater,Wa.lker & Mauri and John
MacNeil,Engineer,
94 The minutes of the last meeting were read by Deputy Clerk
Mildred M.Brookins and they were approved. Supervisor Taylor reported
that he had investigated the Neighborhood Youth Program which is being
set up for the summer and getting in touch with Highway Sup®t. Cooper,
they are going to employ Duane Carmer and George Mowry in the Hgwy.
Dep"t., salaries will be paid by the above agency.
Mr. Chas. Denniston, insurance agency is to be informed by the
Town Clerk of this project to insure proper coverage etc. ( Mr. DennistoY'L

Engineer Rowell and Hgwy. Sup't. investigated certain area's
as follows: Mr. Rowell reports that the Niagara Mohawk Power Co. has
laid under -ground cable in the rigkt�of-ways or ditches of the Town
on the Deerfield Heights Tract causing improper drainage, flooding
and hazardous conditions. After discussion on motion of Don Eaton
seconded by Henry Wadsworth, Town Attorney is requested to write a
letter to Niagara Mohawk Power Company asking for relief. this motion
was passed unanimously.
Another condition was investigated on Parti Drive causing
flooding on the Gunzenhauser residence at the bottom of the
street on the corner of Starr and Parti Dr. Certain driveways
have not beenk-onstructed properly and owners must be so informed.
Highway Sup't. Cooper will pursue this further.
An area on Lamont Tract was also inspected and it appears
necessary that some dry wells need a cleaning operation, Mr.Cooper
will be in touch with the developer, Mr. Neiderhofer,to see where
the responsibility lies and what has to be done.
Mr. Howell reports that a street in the R.Sharp, College View
Tract is under construction and though in the rough grading stage
it looks good, at present.
Attorney Woods appeared before the Board stating that the Plans
for apartment dwellings in the Sosnowich Tract have been drawn as
per request of the Town Board of 4000 sq ft* per family per unit, and he
asked that the Town Board accept :such plans and authorize the Town
Clerk to issue a building permit.
The Town Board reviewed the new Plans as presented, however,
suggestions were made in changing the locations of some units, to
eliminate a clustered effect. Mr. Bova, architect will make the
necessary changes and then present to the Town Clerk. Building Permit
may be issued when every thing is in order.

Estate regarding the area at
the shopping Plaza
where
Montgomery Ward Co. and other stores may be located. Mr. Frank Liguori,
Sanitary Engineer for the Cortland County Health Department is being
consulted by Mr. MacNeil regarding this project.

There was some discussion in regard to the-Pinehurst Development,
of the Don Morton property on Starr Road which is still in the
preliminary stage at present.
William Bean appeared before the Town Board representating
McGraw School District # 4, regarding the disposal of the former
Blodgett Mills School which was closed in the fall of 1967 and
absorbed by McGraw Central School District. Since this school
orignally was common school district # 20 and 13, the voters in
these districts must decide how they wish to dispose of this property.
They could give this property to the Town for Public use as a play-
ground or parking area. There has been some previous discussion
with the residents of this area by the Supervisor and Town Attorney,
but no solution was reached. There will be further search and dis-
cussion and Mr. Bean has been informed that the Board will give a
decision as to whether the Town would be interested in accepting a
gift if the voters so desire.
'�) J Highway Sup't H. Cooper informed the Board that there will be
another Loader demonstration, Friday A.M. at 10 oclock. Also, he
requests permission to increase the salaries of Harmon Kinney $.05
per hour ( to $2.45). John Kinney Jr. $.05 pe your (to $2.25) and
Richard Thomas $.10 per hr. (2.10) effective July lst. The Board

There being no further business at this time on motion of
Den Eaton seconded by Sherman Griswold with unanimous approval of
Board, this meeting was adjourned.
