Regular Town Board meeting, 8
He: Tax reduction/ over 65/
Present at _`eeting -were Board members as follows: Deputy
Supervisor Sherman Griswold,presiding, Justices Donald Eaton
and Ronald Fish, Coiincilman Henry Wadsworth. Others present
at the meeting and Hearing were Rudy Krauklis, Book-keeper
for Supervisor's acco"Luits,Town Attorney, John J. Gardner, Town
Engineer '4illiarron Rowell. Highway Superintendent Harry Cooper
and Fred Walker, Superintendent of 7Arater Installations.
Supervisor Frank K. Taylor was delayed at another meeting until
later.
Public Hearing on Tax Reduction for those property owners age
65 and over who can qualify was held at 7:45 P.M. notice of
advertisement was read by Town Attorney, John Gardner.

Town "1.er1-% Lelan 1n.Brookins read the minutes of the last
meeting and they -vic-re. approved.
Seventeen resident's of Lamont Circle wiere present at this
Board meeting- and their spokesman,14rs. Adelaide Under -wood pre-
sented a petition with. every resident Is name ezoeptIng and
Mrs. PaDalia -,,jl,).o are presently out of Town (124, names) reauest-
in- the Town Board that they be permitted to use. the original
numbers on Lamont Circle (at that time, thrjz 064) for their
postal address's , and not the Fire numbers 'which are dup-icalk-led
and in triplicate in this little area and have caused a great
decal of confusion. According to ';he original plan .of Niagara
Mohawk Power Co., the Fire numbers.were to be used in the mural
Area's and were not to be displaced by numbers already in existence.
The Cortland Post Office has been supplying City Delivery for
some time to the Blinker light on 281 and Route 13 and including
Lamont Circle. Their only .iiandate concerning house address is
an ord,erly-,- system of nizi-iibering with no dupications.
,073-T Motion was- made by Mr. Eaton and seconded by Mr. Wadsworth
that this petition be received and. filed by the Town Clerk.
N.Ross Hall, a resident stated that they wanted some action
on this request tonight as they had been waiting some action
since last summer.
*,3q- The Town Clerk presented two requests for House Trailer
renewals, one from Hilda Bradshaw on West Road and one from
Fred Walker, Gallagher Road. Motion was made by Mr. Eaton
seconded by 11jr. Wadsworth that reauests for these renewals be
granted, this motion was carried. a Fee of 4`�10.00 each renewal
was paid to the Town Clerk.
The Town Clerk read. a letter.from. State Transportation
Authority denying the lowering of the speed limit on the
Kinney Gulf road.
Motion was made by Nr. Eaton seconded by Mr. Wadsworth
that this letter be filed, motion was carried.

1� Regarding Petition of Residents of Lamont Circle:
Whereas, the Town Board on June 61� 1962 did adopt a
Resolution adopting auniform numbering system of numbering
roads, streets, avenues and public buildings and places
throughout the Town; and
Whereas, said uniform system is impractical for the
numbering of Lamont Circle, upon Motion of Justice of the
Peace Donald Eaton ,seconded by Justice of the Peace Ronald
Fish,
IT IS THEREFORE-,
RESOLVED that said Resolution be and the same bgreby is
amended to provide that said resolution shall not apply to
.Lamont Circle and the original numbering shall be used by the
residents and the Town.

Mr. N.Ross Hall asked the Board about a Stop Sign at Rte^281
and Lamont Circle and better lighting on the Circle also, felt there
was a need of a Traffic Light at the intersection.
Town Attorney Gardner reported that he had received a telephone
call from Martin Ahlstrand of the State Transportation Authority, that
they had changed their mind in regards to a new road in the rear of the
Sunoco Gas Station and Tinelli's Diner on Route 11 and that they will
build a fence in front of said properties.
Mr. Cooper Hgwy. Sup't. gave a report of Highway activities
for the month of January 1968.
Town Engineer W. Rowell gave a report on the exhaust system
recently installed in the Town Garage. He recommended that the
voucher in the amount of 4300.00 which Henry Baranello billed the
Town, be held up until the exhaust system is working properly.
Melvin Race ,Dog Warden asked the Board to furnish ammunition
for a tranquilizer gun ,which he will buy. Justice Eaton told Mr. Race
the Board would take this under consideration.
Fred Walker reported that the three water leaks have been taken
care of during January.
Mr. John K.Knight of Cazenovia, N.Y. explained the General Code
Publishers Corp. program, to uniform mown Ordinances.
')X30 Motion was made by Justice Eaton seconded by Justice Fish that
the Town Clerk write a letter to the Acme Pest Control , terminating
their services as of March lst. 1968. Motion was carried.
Backhoe Bids which were opened by the Town Clerk Feb. 2, 1968
at 10 A.M. were discussed by the Board. Supervisor Frank K. Taylor
and members of the Board will go to Horseheads, N.Y. to investigate
S.C.Hansen Inc. the low bidder,($ 6925.00) as to their equipment
and service.
Motion was made by Mr. Griswold seconded by Mr. Wadsworth that
the Supervisor be empowered to invest the sum of yp65,000.00 in
Certification of depositis. This motion was carried.

3 lights be installed on Hillside Drive and two lights on Parti Drive
This motion was carried.

WHEREAS, n public hearing has been held by the Town Board of
the. Town of Cortlandville at the Town Hall, 3577 Terrace Road, in
the Town of Cortlandville, on February 8, 1968, at 7:45 o'clock P.M.
in the matter of the adoption of a resolution_ exempting real property
from taxation pursuant to the Drovisions of Section 467 of the Real
Property Tax Law;

RESOLVED, That the .Assessor of the Town of Cortlandville shal
exempt from taxation real property owned by __ persons

7pereentum (50%) of the assessed valuation thereof upon all future
lAssessment Rolls of the Toirn of Cortlandville, pursuant to the pro-
visioi.s of Section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law.

that all bills as presented and read by the Town Clerk and audited

Upon motion of

the following resolution was unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, The State of New York in connection with the constrluc-
Ition of Interstate Route 505, County of Cortland, has appropriated
(lands from the farm formerly owned by Robert I. Bacon, which makes
the , westerly portion of the Ridge .Road a "dead-end" highway; and
WHEREAS, The Town desires and intends to maintain said west
portion of said Ridge Road, which will require a "turn -around", ha
ling a radius of 60 feet at the easterly terminus thereof; and
WHEREAS, Said Robert I. Bacon has offered to convey by deed
the Town a parcel of land from his farm to provide enough land to
construct said turn -around, and has delivered to the Town a pro -Dos
deed dated February 2, 1968, conveying all of his right, title and
interest in a portion of said turn -around as shown on a maD of a
portion of the lands of Robert I. Bacon, made by F. Donald NcKee
Milton A. Greene, Licensed Surveyors, dated January 23, 1968:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, That the aforesaid "turn -around" on the easterly
terminus of Ridge Road be, and it hereby is, formally accepted as
portion of a public highway of the Town of Cortlandville, Cortland
County, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Town of Cortlandville be,
he hereby is, authorized and directed to record the aforesaid deed
in the Cortland County Clerk's Office.
