Motion was made by Mr. Eaton seconded by Mr. Wadsworth that Merton Bean be employed to help the Assessor if needed, This motion was carried: Motion was made by Mr. WadsworthA seconded by Mr. Griswold that pursuant to Section 42 of the Town Law that the Office of Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Cortlandville be, and it hereby is, es- tablished. This motion was carried and is to become a permanent RESOLUTION, established for the Town of Cortlandville. Also, any one accepting the appointment as Deputy Supervisor must file a $10,000 (ten thousand dollar) Bond and shall be entitled to compensation in the amount, of $10.00 per day plus mileage while acting as Supervisor. Peck, Cortland, New York, dated October 13, 1955, made by George L. King, land surveyor, and filed November 18, 1955, which map indicates the location of two public streets in said Sub division to be know as Hillside Drive and Meadow Lane' the lands contained within the beds of the two aforesaid public streets were conveyed to the Town of Cortlandville by Harold P. Peck, honaldT. Gauthier and Edda T. Gauthier, his wife, and Douglas Warfield and Lydia M. Deputy Supervisor Sherman Griswold presiding: Present were Justices Earl Hedges and Donald .Eaton and Councilman Henry Wadsworth, also the book-keeper for Supervisor, R. Krauklis, Highway Sup't. Floyd Cole - grove, and Town attorney John Gardner. Mr. William Rowell Engineer from Stearns and Wheler was present as were Electrical Contractoi►z Harry Thomas of Cortland, , Sherman Olin , contractor ( for instalAng water tank), Harry Nostrieb,and Robert Mahaney of fisher -Porter Co. Mrs. Maxine Peck came before the Hoard to ask for a renewal of her House Trailer Permit and on motion of Mr. Wadsworth, seconded by Mr. Eaton with unanimous approval of the .Board, on payment of the $10. Fee an extension of 6 months was granted Mrs. Peck The Town Clerk read resignation of Ed. Berean as Constable for the Town of Cortlandville, this was rxx1mxxixx accepted by the .Board with regret and filed, effective of date, February 4, 1964. Motion by Mr. Eaton and seconded by Mr. Hedges that the Town Clerk be authorized to seek permission from State Education Department to destroy certain old records as listed by him. This motion was carried. The Town Clerk read a petition by residents of Lamont Circle requesting a. traffic light where Lamont Circle enters Route 281. Motion by Mr. Eaton seconded by Mr. Wadsworth that the petition be 9 accepted and referred to the Stare Traffic Commission in Albany. This motion was carried Mr. Rowell,Engineer advised the Board that the Health Department has requested that Town of Cortlandville Water Supply be chlorinated as soon as possible. Mr. Rowell also explained the Air problems of the Water District Pump. Mr. Rowell, Mr. Olin and Mr. Mahaney reported that they are try- ing a new Air control 7 Tele-Meter parts which they hope will remedy the situation. Motion by Mr. Wadsworth seconded by Mr. Eaton that all bill on General Fund, Water :Distict #1 and # 2 and Sewer Dist.,#1 as ,pre- sented by the Town Clerk be paid. Regular meeting of the Town Board held at the Town Hall, 15 Terrace Road in the Town of Cortlandville. Members present at this meeting were: Councilman Henry Wadsworth, Justices Earl Hedges and Donald Eaton, Rudolph Xrauklisq book-keeper for Sup., and Deputy Supervisor - ?herman Griswold, presiding. John Gardner Town Attorney, also, was present. Appearing before the Board were Mr. & Mrs. Whitford Reynolds, Groton Road,, route 222, with a petition signed by residents of same vincinity, requesting street lights. Since one end of said street is in Tompkins Ocurity, the Town of Cortlandville can install only at the intersection of Blanchard Road and Route 222. Motion was made by Kir. Eaton seconded by Mr. Hedges that a street light be installed i'at -this intersection. This motion.was carried unanimously and the Town Clerk will send a written request to the Niagara Mohawk Power Co., in regard to above petition. The Town Clerk re -ported to the Board that Tgm. Rowell Engineer from Stearns and Wheler was unable to De present at this meeting,how ever,he reported that he had been working on the zoning map covering necessary changes, also, Mr. Howell informed the Clerk thatthe Con- tractor, Sherman Olin had notified the Telemeter Firm to either get their Telemeter working properly or remove their equipment and he would get, some one else to install new ones. Mr. Gardner, Town Attorney informed the Board of a notice of Claimfiled against the Town (which the Town Clerk had turned over to him) for the death of Ellis Charles Lindsay who fell -Inside the water tank from the top and was killed. This notice was served on Lelan M. Brookins on February 25, 1964 at 3;30 P.K..by Daniel 'KldMann. The amount of the Claim is for ��500,000.00. And - WHEREAS, a written notice of claim in the amount of '�'?'500,000-00 byGail B. Spector, Administrator of the Estate of Ell -is Charles Lindsay deceased, was served on Flebraary 2155, 1064, upon the Town of Cortlandtil -ville for damages for wrongful death of said deceased. alleged -to have occurred on February 26, 1963, in connection with the erection of the new tower tank for Water District # I of said Town; and IVUHEREAS, the Town Board has the and considered adjustment pay- ment of said claim; Upon motion of tlustice Earl -Hedges, seconded by Justice Donald Eaton, it is unanimously hereby RESOLVED, that adjustment and -payment of said claim be, and the same hereby is, REFUSED. ff Motion by Mr. Hedges and seconded by Mr. Wadsworth that the Supervisor be empowered to sign an agreement prepared by Al Haskell and presented to the Board by Mr. Gardner. H. 378 and nn the south by the north boundary line of the lands of Erie -Lackawanna Railroad, and being parcel No. 670 of Map 502 of the Cortland -Tully Section of the Interstate Route 505; and WHEREAS, the New York State Department of Public Works has offered to compensate the Town of Cortlandville for the total val of said property by payment of the sum of $625.00; be it I RESOLVED, That the offer of the New York State Department,of Public Works to pay the sum of $625.00 as compensation for its appropriation of said lands, be, and the same hereby is, accepted; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Supervisor of the Town of Cortlandville be and he hereby is, authorized and directed to execute, sign and deliver the proposed agreement of adjustment with the New York Sta e Department of Public Works for settlement of said claim for appro- priation of the sum of $625.00. Present were: Councilmen Sherman Griswold and Henry Wadsworth, Justices Earl Hedges and Don Eaton. R. Krauklis, book-keeper for the Supervisor, Town Attorney John Gardner, Highway Supet. Floyd Colegrove, also, Mr. Schenk and a salesman from Brockway, regarding Bids on a new Truck. The bids were read by the Town Clerk and action was put over until the next meeting which will be Jan. 6, 1965. Motion by Mr. Eaton seconded by Sherman Griswold that the Town Superintendent of Highways be authorized to buy and erect a sign for the McGraw Hill Dump stating the hours the dump.will remain open as follows: 8 AM.to 5 PM, Mon thru Sat. and 8 AM to 1 PM on Sunday. This motion was carried. Motion_ by Mr. Griswold seconded by Mr. Hedges that Mr. Gorton be paid $75.00 for extra help at the Dump on Stupke road. This motion was carried. Motion by Mr. Hedges %Ki[XXXXXX and seconded by Mr. Wadsworth that the Supervisor be empowered to accept a payment of $437.62 from Insurance Company for damage done to McGraw Bridge. This motion was carried. Motion by Mr. Wadsworth seconded by Mr. Hedges that the Town Attorney write a letter to Roy Crandall relative to moving used cars which he has parked on his recently acquired property (formly owned by E. Morgan) This motion was carried. The Town Clerk read the bills to be audited, the total for General Fund was $65138.94, Water District # lf1926.17, Sewer bills $608.00.
