A Public Hearing was held in the matter of raising the 50% tax exemption from $3,000,00 to $4,000.00 for people 65 years or older who could qualify. The Town Clerk read the notice of Publication which was advertized in the Cortland Standard Mar, 24, 1972, Irving Reeve of Glenwood -Ave, Lloyd Wildman of Kellogg Rd. and Burton McKee of RD#1 McGRaw all spoke in favor, as well as several younger people from Lamont Circle who also spoke in favor. ® After everyone had their say, the hearing was closed. Later in the regular meeting the following resolution was adopted: WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the Town Board of the Town of Cortlandville, at the Town Hall, 3577 Terrace Road in the Town of Cortlandville, on April 5, 1972, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. in the matter of the adoption of a Resolution exempting real property from, taxation pursuant to the provisions of Section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law; Upon motion of Justice Donald Eaton, seconded by Justice Ronald Fish and carried unanimously, be it 5 RESOLVED, That the Assessor of the Town of Cortlandville shall exempt from taxation real property owned by persons sixty-five (65) years of age or over, whose income or combined income for the income tax period immediately preceding the date of application does not exceed Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00), to the extent of nifty percentum (50%) of the assessed valuation thereof, upon all future Assessment Rolls of the Town of Cortlandville pursuant to the provi- sions of Section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law. The Regular meeting was called to order by Supervisor Frank K. Taylor. Other Board members present were Justice Donald sEaton, Justice Ronald Fish, Councilmen Sherman Griswold and Ray E. Miller, Rudy Krauklis-Bookkeeper to the Supervisor, William Rowell Town Engineer, Assessor Henry Wadsworth, Town Attorney John Gardner, Highway Superintendant Louis Wagner, 14 residents from the Lamont Circle area, Leonard Bacon, Rev. Donald Pichette of Binghamton, N.Y. and 4 spectators from the Groton Ave. Area. The Town Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting and there were no corrections. The Town Clerk opened a bid of the Brockway Motor Co. for a new Heavy Duty Truck with snow plow combination for the Highway Department at a price of $19,900. Board action on this will be taken up at the next Board meeting. hA Supervisor Taylor read two letters from the State Dept. of Transportation; one of which sets the speed limit of 45 MPH on Locust Ave: also a speed limit of 30 MPH on Lamont Area Tract. The people from the Lamont Area want a basket ball court created on the playground. They were told to bring in a Sketch plan and estimated costs at a future meeting. They a also complained about the condition of the fence on railroad Property, Rev. Donald Pichette, who owns land off the Ridge Road wants the Town to shape up the road and ditches to his property. His Attorney Morris Fitts and Town Attorney John Gardner will try to find out whether he owns the road or whether the Town owns it. Supervisor Taylor appointed Justice Eaton and Councilman Griswold a committee to investigate an air compressor for the Water & Sewer Dept. Motion was made by Mr. Eaton and seconded by Mr. Fish that the Boy Scouts of McGraw be allowed to pick up the loose papers at the McGraw Land Fill. Motion Carried. Motion by Mr. Eaton, seconded by Mr. Fish that all bills as presented by the Town Clerk and audited by the Town Board be paid as follows: General Fund $3,475.32 Water Dist. #1 730.89 Water Dist. #2 269.52 Water Dist. #3 35.20 Sewer Dist. #1 669.81 Highway Dept. 3,210.48 Ther being no further business at this time, meeting was adjourned.
