HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-15-1972Wed. March 15, 1972 7:30 P.M - Regular meeting (2nd.) of the Town Board held at the Town Hall with Supervisor Frank K. Taylor presiding. Other Board members present were, Justices Don Eaton and Ron Fish and Councilman Sherman Griswold. Councilman Ray Miller was absent. others present were Book-keeper, Rudy Krauklis, Town Engineer, Wm. Rowell, Town Attorney, John Gardner, Town Higway Supt. Lou Wagner, Town Assessor, H. Wadsworth, and Fred Walker,,Water and Sewer Maintenance. Present also were Albert Hendricks,Alhert Arnold ,William Burdick, Don Morton and Mr. & Mrs. Priest, Mrs. Mary Cogswell and Mrs. Emma McLaughlin. • Town Clerk, Brookins read the minutes of the last meeting and there were no corrections. Supervisor read a letter from the Executive Secretary of the Assoc. of Towns, asking all Town Supervisorrvor� his representative come to Albany to attend an 8:30 A.M.Rally in the New Weston Room of the DeWitt Clinton Hotel on March 22nd, 1972, they will review their grievances and problems and then "March on the capitol,, about 9:30 A.M. so each can call on his Assenblyman and Senator to get some answers. Motion was made by Justice Eaton seconded by Councilman Griswold that represenative or official attending this meeting may do so at Town expense. This motion was carried. Mr. Burdick read the following letter, To Frank K. Taylor, Supervisor Dear Frank: Re: Sylvia Carter Cor. Lime Hollow Rd. & Route 13 Cortland, New York As you can see from the attached letter from the Cortland County Develpment Company, McDonald's has permission to use their water line. Now, on behalf of Mrs. Carter, i' need permission to use the water. Thanks for giving this your attention, Regards, Sincerely yours Yaman Real Estate Bill Motion was made by Justice Eaton seconded by Councilman Griswold that Sylvia Carter be given permission to tap into the 14" Transite dater line at a point in the North side of the Lime Hollow Road near where it inter- sects w1 thN.Y.State Hgwy, 13, and that a shut off valve be installed. The line is to be maintained by the property owner"at such time as the area is in the water district * the property shall be incorporated into the water district. This motion was carried. Sincerely, jy"'Z"zz LAVERNE NIEDERHOFER President ° LN: vn �A 1 DEDICATED TO THE ECONOMIC ' DEVELOPMENT OF CORTLAND COUNTY 11_5 q0 Motion was made by Justice Fish seconded by Justice Eaton that Sylvia Carter be permitted to construct an 8" Sewer (transit) line from the Carter property to an 81, line crossing Rte. 13, approximately 1751 northerly from the Carter property providing that the connection be made to the existing manhole and for later construction by said Mrs. Carter and will consist of an 8B, transit sewer sunning,1501 southerly thereof to a new manhole. Upon satisfactory completion and approval of the Town Engineer, said line will be dedicated to Sewer District # 1 at which time Sewer District 1 will assume maintenance of said line. This motion was carried. Mr. Arnold and Mr. Hendricks brought to the Boa& attention • that there is a Flooding problem on Delaware Ave. whenever there is high water. Mr. Wagner- road Supt. will review the situation and try to come up with some solution. *I k'� Motion was made by Mr. Griswold seconded by Mr. Eaton that Town Attorney advertize for bids for a new Heavy Duty Truck with Snow Plow for the Highway Dept. Bids to be opened at a regular meeting April 5, 1972. This motion was carried. ) p Motion was made by Mr. Eaton seconded by Mr. Fish that a Public Hearing be held April 5, 1972 at 7:30 P.M. regarding, increasing the exemption for residents over 65, to #4000.00. This motion was carried. Motion was Meade by Mr. Griswold seconded by Mr. Eaton that a Committee go to Albany at Town expense to look at an air compressor March 23, 1972. This motion was carried. Motion was made by Mr. Fish seconded by Mr. Griswold that the Committee take with them a letter of intent authorizing purchase of an air :,ompressor, cost not to exceed $1000.00. This motion was carried. Resolution in regards to standardization for purchase of heavy duty trucks for the highway department follows on back page (116). Eaton, and seconded by Councilman, Sherman Griswold, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted: WHEREAS, The Highway Department of the Town presently owns heavy duty trucks manufactured by the Brockway Division of Mack Trucks, Inc. and has on hand a supply of parts therefor; and WHEREAS, To purchase a different make of heavy duty trucks !would be inefficient and uneconomical since alternate and additions ,supplies of spare parts would have to be purchased, which would not The interchangeable with the ones already on hand; and ;+ WHEREAS, For other reasons such as handling and operation of ,the equipment and attaching snow plows and other improvements, it ;is determined by this duo -arid determined to purchase an additional I iltruck of the same make as the one presently owned by the Town: I� NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, For reasons of efficiency and 'I economy and pursuant to the authority conferred by Subdivision 5 of Section 103 of the General Municipal Law, it is determined by this Poard that there is a need for standardization in the purchase of j1highway trucks for the Town Highway Department and that all heavy 'duty trucks hereafter purchased for the Town Highway Department sha: I be manufactured by the Brockway Division of Mack Trucks, Inc. .l 1 11 fl 40 ri
