TO: The Cortlandville Town Board
FROM: R. G. Thorpe
SUBJECT: Locko-Glazers Complaint
On August 3, 1978 Supervisor Nadolski and Councilmen Pierce and
Thorpe met with Mr. William J. Christopher (Corporate Vice -President),
the plant manager, and the day foreman at Locko-Glazers, Inc. of
Cortland, 240 Tompkins Street.
The complaints brought by several town residents were reviewed
and discussed. Locko agreed to take all reasonable measures to
keep odor and noise levels as low as possible. Several points should
be made, however:
1. Locko is in a proper zone.
2. The trees bordering a portion of the Halstead Drive -Locko
property line, growing on the Locko property, which serve as a
noise shield, have been cut down. The trees were not removed by
Locko.
3. A certain amount of truck noise is unavoidable. The hydraulic
systems on the trucks must be pressurized for safety reasons. We
found no evidence that the drivers were capricious or careless.
