A Special Meeting of the Town Board was held on Friday, July 20,
1979 at the Town Hall, 15 Terrace Road, Cortland, New York -at 4:00 P.M.
with Supervisor Nadolski presiding. Board Members present were:
Councilman Melvin Pierce, Councilman Raymond Thorpe and Town Clerk,
Pauline Parker. Others present were: Attorney, John Folmer; Zoning
Officer, Don Fowler; Justice, Donald Eaton; Engineer, Charles Feiszli;
Homer Fire Chief, Bruce Moss; Betty Palm and a few fireman.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Nadolski.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss matters pertaining
to the establishment of a Fire District for The Town of Cortlandville.
A Public Hearing was held concerning this on December 6, 1978.
At the present time we have a contract with the Village of Homer
and the Village of McGraw to provide fire protection.
A meeting was held recently with Councilman Pierce, Attorney
JoYn Folmer; Village of Homer Mayor, Harry Calale; and Homer Fire
Chief, Bruce Moss.
Councilman Pierce reported that the purpose of the meeting was
to discuss the possibility of using the last year of our contract
with Homer as a training period. This would enable us to operate
on our own at the end of 1980, when our contract expires.
This was not agreed upon at that time.
After further investigation with state officials, it was found
that the year training period will not be necessary. The State will
furnish experts to set up a program.
A list was supplied from the Underwriters and the local fire
coordinator of the required equipment needed and requirements for
the purpose of record keeping.
