PUBLIC HEARING
The Budget Heating was called to otdet by Supervisor Lee at 7 P . M .
Present were Supervisor Lee , Councilmen Todd , Ogden , Gridley 8 Benson ,
Attorney Amdut 8 Ass ess oA Wells .
Supervisors Lee opened the meeting with the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag .
Supervisor Lee then handed out copies o , the Budget to MA . Harald Case
and Mk . Anthui Clariz , Ithaca Journat Representative who wen. e the only
two people present . He also submitted to everyone present , Town Board
etc . a chart showing tax base , tate and Levy bon. 1968 and 1969 . This
showed bigures box Whole Town , Town Outside , Dryden Fite District , f
Lighting Districts , Dryden Sewers # 1 and Dnyden Water District # 1 . This li

Supervisor Lee then gave an account ob the increase and decrease in each
budget item , and they arse as hollows :

MA . Harrold Case at this time stated that he belt the Highway Superinten -
dents salary was to high . Supervisor Lee and the Town Boatd Members
responded to this by in6onming MA . Case that the day was gone when a
man could be taken o66 the street to nun the Highway Department . MA .
Case was responsible hot a Highway Budget amounting to oven $ 100 , 000 ,
a large number o , expensive trucks and equipment and personnel totaling
between sixteen to twenty men , and i6 the Town expects a young man to
maize a careexto , his job they must pay him , ot it . Mt . Case then
questioned the number ob personnel stating he did not beef the Town needed
t hat many men in the Highway Department . He was inbormed that the Town
now has enough men to have both a building and paving crew and a
maintenance crew . Councilman Benson stated that i , this i4 what we need
t o keep out toads in shape he is all dot it . Supervisor Lee stated that
the Town ob Dnyden has 114 miles ob road , the most in the County to keep
in tepait and plowed , and the AeaetLon ob the people in Dnyden in tegand
t o the maintenance ob the toads has been very bavotable . Councilman
Todd sttated that he belt the Town ab Dryden received mote ban their
money than the County , the County received mote bon their money than
t he State and so on . Mt . Case at this time stated he would like to go
on teeatd that he belt we were not getting true value hot the numbers
ab Highway Employees and he objects to the large increase in salary ban
t he Highway Superintendent . Being no butthet comments the Public
Heating Sot the Budget was closed .
RESOLUTION # 118 ADOPTION OF PRELIMINARY BUDGET
Councilman Ogden ab , ered the , allowing resolution and asked its adoption .
WHEREAS , this Town Boand has met at the time and place speci , ied in the
notice o , public heating on the preliminary budget and heard all persons
desiring to be heard thereon now , thete , ore , be it
RESOLVED that this Town Board does hereby adopt such preliminary budget
as originally compiled , as the annual budget a , this Town bar the , . seal
year beginning on the 1st day a , January 1969 , and that such budget
as 40 adopted be entered in detail in the minutes o , the ptoeeedings
