HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-17-1980Monday, March l7, 1980 7:30 �P.M. page 1 g SPECIAL MEETING A Special Meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday, March 17, 1980 at the Town Hall, 15 Terrace Rd, Cortland, NY at 7:30 p.m. with Supervisor Nadolski presiding. Board members present weres Councilman Edwin O'Donnel.l, Councilman Warren Manning, Councilman Melvin Pierce and Councilman Raymond Thorpe Others present were: Deputy Town Clerk, Bonnie Call; Attorney, John Folmer; Assessor Robert Wells; Ifiater & Sewer Sup't, Fred -Walker; Newsreporter, Jennifer Parker and Richard Purdy of Hayes Ambulance. • The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Nadolski. The Town Board discussed the 1980 Hayes Ambulance Contract with the owner, Mr. Purdy. The Town Board expressed concern and objection to the method of determining the cost of the ambulance service to -the town. Mr. Purdy reviewed, with the board members, the procedure which has been in existance for many years and still applies for 1980. RESOLUTION # 57 AUTHORIZE SUPERVISOR TO SIGN THE HA.YES AMBULANCE CONTRACT FOR 1980 Motion by Councilman Manning Seconded by Councilman Thorpe VOTES: All AYE I ADOPTED BE IT RESOLVED that the Supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to sign the contract for ambulance service for the Town of Cortlandville with Hayes Ambulance for 1980 and shall terminate on December'31, 1980, and RESOLVED that the fee for such contract shall not exceed $15,839.13, and shall be retroactive to January 1, 1980 to be paid in twelve monthly payments, and RESOLVED THAT negotiations for the 1981 contract shall commence in September 1980. RESOLUTION # 58 RESCIND PORTION OF RESOLUTION #175 OF 1979 THAT DISSOLVED THE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT Motion by Councilman Pierce Seconded by Councilman Thorpe VOTES: All AYE ADOPTED WHEREAS, on November 15, 19799 Resolution #175 was adopted for the Dissolution of the Fire Protection District and Establishment of the Town of Cortlandville Fire District, and WHEREAS we have been advised that this should be accomplished by two separate resolutions, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that that portion of Resolution #175 of November 159 1979 pertaining to the dissolution of the Fire Protection District shall become null and void Monday, March 17, 1980 page 2 RESOLUTION # 59 DISSOLUTION OF FIRE PRO`.CECTI0N DISTRICT Motion by Councilman Thorpe Seconded by Councilman Pierce VOTES: All AYE ADOPTED WHEREAS,' the Town Board of the Town of Cortlandville has heretofore and on November 15, 1979 resolved to create a Fire district within the Town of Cortlandville; NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that upon the approval and establishment of the said Town of Cortlandville Fire District, as aforesaid, embracing all of the territory within the corporate limits in the Town and outside the corporate Cortland and Villages of Homer and limits of the City of McGraw, the presently • existing Fire Protection District, shall be dissolved and dis- continued; and it is further RESOLVED, that this resolution is adopted subject to permissive referendum as required by Section 185 of .the -Town Law. RESOLUTION # 60 AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF A DUMP TRUCK FOR THE WATER DEPARTMENT Motion by Councilman Manning Seconded by Councilman Thorpe VOTES: All AYE ADOPTED WHEREAS upon reviewing the list of trucks available from the State Bids list, BE IT RESOLVED that the Water & Sewer Sup't is hereby auth- orized and directed to purchase a new dump truck, the cost not to exceed $9,000. RESOLUTION # 61 AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF A FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP FOR THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT Motion by Councilman O'Donnell Seconded by Councilman Thorpe VOTES: All AYE ADOPTED WHEREAS upon reviewing the list of trucks available from the State Bids list BE IT RESOLVED that the Highway Sup't is hereby authorized and directed to purchase a new .four. -wheel drive pickup truck, the cost not to exceed $9,000, RESOLUTION # 62 AUTHORIZE THE HOY ROAD TO BE ADDED TO TOWN HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM Motion by Councilman Pierce Seconded by Councilman Thorpe VOTES: .All AYE ADOPTED WHEREAS pursuant to Article 8_A of the Highway Law, and filed in the office of the Town Clerk BE IT RESOLVED that -the Hoy Road is hereby added to the Town Highway Improvement Program for reconstruction in 1981 There being no :Further business, a motion was made by Councilman Thorpe, seconded by Councilman Pierce, to adjourn the meeting.
