HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-04-13 April 13 , 1965 The regular monthly meeting of Dryden Town Board was called to order at 8 : 00 o ' clock P . M . Present : Supervisor Gridley', Clm . Benson , Justice Hoagland , Justice Spaulding , Clm . Lee , , Assessor Abrams , and Attorney Helen Amdur . Minutes of Previous Meeting were ap e- and --ediaattee4ed . Two Group Fire Contracts were heard from , one group from McLean and the other from Varna . Budgets of the Companies were reviewed , and a qu question & answer period was held . Neither group were given any satisfaction as to what help could be expected from the Town . c B ill Bailey presented a check ( blank ) to the Town Board , on behalf of Kiwanis Club ddor a Project within the town . Clm . Benson will discuss this with The Planning Board April 15 , to see what can be decided upon . . A letter from Mrs . E . P . Bestelmeyer , - requesting permission to remove from the vault , an old volume on School District #23 , to be placed either in the DeWitt Historical Society or the Regional History D epartment at Cornell University Library . The Town Clerk was granted permission to forward said book to Mrs . Bestelmeyer . Resolution., follows : - L etter from Mrs . Potter regarding claim against Town of Dryden . Resolution follows . A note from John Mulcahy of N . Y . S . Electric and Gas requesting permission to place a light on Town Building in Varna . Permission was granted by Town Board , and Town Clerk has notified Mr . Mulcahy to that effect . A letter was read from Mary E . Howe in reference to Town of Dryden Ordinance . Town Clerk was requested to answer letter and send copies of Ordinances to Mrs . Howe . L etter from ' Varna Community Association Board of Directors , stating the Community Center is available for all voting and primaries , at no cost to the Town of Dryden . L etter from Koppers Co . Inc . stating they could not start any business in Dryden unless the location was zoned industrial . B ill Bailey explained briefly the new Insurance program , recommended by Bailey ' s Agency for Town of Dryden . A copy is attached to minutes . RESOLUTION a- Insurance Coverage Bailey Agency Clm . Benson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption . RESOLVED , that Supervisor Gridley be empowered to accept and transact any payment , in regards to the Packaged Policy Fire Insurance offered by Bailey ' s Agency , to be effective April 20 , 1965 and have all insurance coming due once a year and reviewed once a year . Seconded by Justice Spaulding , Roll call vote , all voting yes . • RESOLUTION # L - Tabled Resolution Clm . Benson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption . RESOLVED , that Rev . Turners resolution be untabled and placed on floor for discussion ( from previous meeting ) So done . Seconded by Justice Hoagland and carried . RESOLUTION # La - Investigation to Rev . Turners & Answer Clm . Benson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption . RESOLVED , THAT information furnished by committee. , in letter form be attached to minutes . Seconded by Justice Spaulding and carried . 4t Adjourned Meeting of Dryden Town Board March 16 , 1965 This meeting was called to order at 8 : 00 P . M . by Supervisor Gridley . Present : Supervisor Gridley , Justice Hoagland , Clm . Benson and Clm . Lee . Absent : Justice' Spaulding Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adoption . RESOLVED , that Mattie Bayly be appointed Town Clerk as of March 16 , 1965 . Salary shall be set at the rate of $ 3000 . 00 per annum . Roll call vote ,1 All voting yes . Seconded by C1m . Benson WHEREAS the Town Board inadvertently approved light district bills in excess of the budgeted amount , therefore creating a deficit • of 84 . 63 in the light fund account . Clm . Benson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption . RESOLVED , that the sum of $ 84 . 63 be transferred from General fund , and be further RESOLVED , that said amount shall be raised in the next light district levy and said amount shall be reimbursed to the General Fund . . Even though savings are rent considerable coverage would be improved significantly ? . With all of your insurance coming due on an " Insurance Day" your program could easily be reviewed once each year . I would be responsible for your insurance program and would come to a Board Meeting at. least once each year for an annual report .
