HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-04-14 10 April 14 , 1964 The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was called to order at 8 : 00 p . m . by Supervisor Gridley . Present were Justice Hoagland , Councilmen Benson and Saltonstall , Assessor Abrams , Hwy . Supt . Case , and Atty . Williamson . Absent : Justice Spaulding . The meeting was recessed for openning of bids , which then were re - ferred to Hwy . Supt . and highway committee for review and recommend - ation . Meeting called to order again at 8 : 15 p . m . Mr . Winslow and Mr . Sutliffe asked to be heard , and stated they have a problem of a neighbor ' s cows , which are not fenced , coming onto their property and gardens . Matter referred to Atty . William- son . Peter Levatich , Architect , presented piltline and drawing for pro - posed changes in Town Building . Resolution No . 46 - Town Building Clm . Saltonstall offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that this Town Board accept the proposal rela - tive to remodeling and addition to Town Building , and that Mr . Levatich be asked to prepare working drawings . Seconded by Clm . Benson . Carried . Resolution No . 47 - Highway Claims Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that Highway claims , totaling $ 7265 . 64 , be paid as audited . Seconded by Clm . Benson . Roll call vote , all voting YES . Absent : Justice Spaulding . Resolution No . 48 - General Claims • • Clm . Resolution No . 49 - Deputy Clerk Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that Mrs . Fortner , Deputy Clerk , be asked to open the office Mondays from now through July 13th , on a trial basis , to do deputy work and such secretarial work as may be needed by the Supervisor , Hwy . It was agreed that this problem be discussed further in May , and that the Assessor be asked to draw up a proposal for consideration at that meeting . Moved . by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Lewis Gridley , Supervisor Jane Korbas , Town Clerk May 5 , 1964 A special meeting was called by Supervisor Gridley , upon re - quest of Justice Hoagland and Clm . Benson , for purpose of con- sidering a resolution regarding first class town . Meeting called to order at 7 : 30 p . m . by Supervisor Gridley . Present were Justice Hoagland , Councilmen Benson and Saltonstall . Absent : Justice Spaulding . Resolution No . 58 To Make Town of Dryden a Town of the First -Class Clm . Saltonstall offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : WHEREAS , the taxable real property shown on the latest completed Assessment Roll of the Town of Dryden exceeds $ 10 , 000 , 000 . 00 ; and WHEREAS , pursuant to Sec . 12 of the Town Law , a town may by resolution , subject to a permissive referendum , adopt a resolution to make the Town of Dryden a town of the first - class ; an WHEREAS , the Town Board feels that it would be of the best interest not only for better representation on the Town Board by the residents of the Town of Dryden , but also by reason of the additional flexibility which a town of the first - class has to be - come a town of the first - class ; NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED , That the Town of Dryden become a town of the first - class effective January 1 , 1966 , and • be it further RESOLVED , That this resolution is adopted suject to a permissive referendum .
