HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-03-10 S March 10 , 1964 The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was called to order by Supervisor Gridley at 8 p . m . Present were Clm . B enson , Justice Hoagland , and Hwy . Supt . Case . Absent : Clm . Saltonstall and Justice Spaulding . The minutes of the previous meeting were approved . Mr . Gordon Read of Dryden Speedway was present to discuss his request for Sunday racing , as provided in Sec . 2145 of Penal Law . Resolution No . 37 - Sunday Racing Clm . Benson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that counsel be asked to prepare a local law , or ordinance , whichever he would deem more advisable , which would permit Sunday operation of the Speedway , preferably limited to the last two Sundays in April , the last twp in September , and the first two in October . S econded by Justice Hpaglandl.; 0 Carried . The next Board meeting was set for Tuesday , April 14th . Resolution No . 38 - Highway ( Load Limits ) Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that pursuant to Sec . 1660 , Par . 11 , of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York , any vehicle with the gross weight in excess of posted tons per axle shall be ex- cluded from any Town Highway of the Town of Dryden when so posted . Such exclusion shall take effect upon the erection of signs on the section of highway from which such vehicles are to be excluded . S econded by Clm . Benson . Carried . Resolution No . 39 - Highway Claims Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that highway claims totaling 03514 . 94 be paid as audited . Seconded by Clm . Benson . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : Saltonstall and Spaulding . Resolution No . 40 - General Claims Clm . Benson offered the following resolution and moved its adop - tion : RESOLVED , that General claims totaling $ 596 . 53 be paid as audited . Seconded by Justice Hoagland . Roll call vote , all present voting . YES . Absent : Saltonstall and Spaulding . Resolution No . 41 - Stone and Oil Purchases Clm . Benson offered _ the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that this Town accept the stone and oil bids as accepted by the County , as per schedule in highway file . S econded by Clm . Hoagland . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : Saltonstall and Spaulding . Justice Hoagland nominated Edward Newhart for the position of constable to replace James Murray . Resolution No . 42 - Constable Clm . Benson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that nominations be closed and the Town Clerk be instructed to cast one ballot for Edward Newhart . S econded by Justice Hoagland . Carried . Resolution No . 43 - Constable Bond Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that the necessary bond be purchased for Edward Newhart as Constable . S econded by Clm . Benson . Carried . 9 , Resolution No . 44 - Bids for Loader Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its p ado tion .' RESOLVED , that the Town Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for one loader , with equipment as specified by the Highway Superintendent , at a cost not to exceed $ 32 , 000 . 00 ; bids to be accepted until noon April 14 , 1964 ; bids to be openned at 8 : 00 p . m . April 14 , 1964 . Seconded by Clm . Benson . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : Saltonstall and Spaulding . The following correspondence was read : Lloyd A . Maeder - re : protest about denial of speed zones . No change in decision . Placed on file ( Speed zones ) . Sterns & Wheeler - progress report on comprehensive sewer study . 411 Health Dept . - Copy of letter approving Stage 2 of Sadd defiaelopment . State Dept . of Equalization - acknowledging receipt of protest of tentative equalization rate . Bills before State Assembly - providing for 50 ¢ fee to be returned to Towns under Uniform Commercial Code ; providing for dog census in November , rather than December each year:. , : Justice Hoagland reported that the Planning Board will hold a public hearing on March 19th regarding proposed subdivision regulations , as revised since previous hearing . Town Board members are invited . Regarding Town Building - Justice Hoagland reported that Mr . Levatich , architect , is preparing recommendations to be reviewed in the next 1 week or so . i Resolution No . _ 45 - Highway Agreements Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adoption : RESOLVED , that agreements be signed with the Highway Superintendent authorizing permanent improvementon the following projects : , ( A ) Ferguson Road , ( B ) Baker Hill - Road , and ( C ) Freese Rd . Seconded by Clm . Benson . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : Saltonstall and Spaulding . Clm . Benson reported that an organizational meeting is being held to -night by the Joint Municipal Survey Committee , and that he could not remain for the full meeting because of this Town Board meeting . Any action by the Joint Committee will follow this organizational meeting . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Benson , that the meeting be adjourned . Carried .
