HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-08-03 393 August 3 , 1962 N . The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was called to order by Supervisor Gridley at 8 p . m . Present were Justices Hoagland and Spaulding , Councilmen Baker and Saltonstall , Assessor Abrams and Hwy Supt Case . , and Atty Williamson . The minutes of the , previous meeting were read and approved . Moved by Cim . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that General bills totaling $ 751 . 55 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES . Moved by Clm . Baker , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that highway bills totaling $4733 . 53 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that Mildred Hoyt be appointed to serve as election inspector in District 1 , to replace Mrs . Katrina Morse who has declined to serve ; and that the Town Clerk notify the respective committee chairmen of vacancies which exist for election inspectors in District ly asking that they seek replacements . Motion carried and so ordered . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that the following polling places be designated for the coming year : D istrict 1 - Town Hall , Varna D istrict 2 - Houtz Hall , Etna D istrict 3 - Village Hall , Dryden D istrict 4 - West Dryden Church D istrict 5 - Town Office , Dryden D istrict 6 - Village Hall , Freeville Motion carried andll, so ordered . The matter of repair and maintenance of the town building in Varna was discussed , and ',action withheld , pending further study by the Supervisor . Hwy Supt Case reported re : corner at the English property of Snyder Hill Road that he is to stake out proposed change to see how it looks before any decision is kg log made . Hwy Supt Case also reported that work on the Mt . Pleasant road is progressing . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Clm . Baker , that , as recommended by the Highway Superintendetn , this Town Board advertise for bids for one four wheel drive truci, GV 8 ! approximately 36 , 000 lbs , to be de - livered in January 1963 ; bids to be opened at 8 p . m . Sept . 5th . Roll call vote , all ! voting YES . Moved . by Glin . Baker; seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that wage increase for Ray McKnight and Richard Wilson to $ 1 . 85 per hour , effective Sept . 1st , as recommended by Hwy Supt Case , be approved . Roll call vote , all voting YES . Atty Williamson advised on procedures for enforcing Junk Yard ordi- nance , as temporary p. icenses have expired and application for perma- nent licenses have not been received . Assessor Abrams reported on completion of the tax roll . I Gridley Sup .p ey re ported interest of people in the Marna area in a public water supply . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Clm . Baker , that the Supervisor be empowered to check into the problem of obtaining public water supply for this area . Carried and so ordered . Next regular meeting will be Wednesday , September 5th .
