HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-05-04 388 May 4 , 1962 The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was called to order at 8 p . m . by Supervisor Gridley . Present were Clm . . Baker , Justice hRoagEthiga and Assessor Abrams . Absent : Justice Spaulding and Clm.. Saltonstall . The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved .' Supervisor Gridley reported that upon advice of counsel he learned that it is illegal to use Town highway machinery for work in a cemetery which is a corporation . Supervisor Gridley reported that the matter of the Roy Sanderson road off Irish Settlement Road must be pursued further . Supervisor Gridley reported on the spring road tour , which in- cluded Bone Plain , Lower Creek ( where break -up was noted in a few hundred feet of that road ) , Turkey Hill , Stone Quarry , German Cross , and SnydertHill roads . It was noted that Genung Road and S tone Quarry Road had held their condition very well ; and that S nyder Hill Rd . iStill needs ditching . On German Cross Rd . the new culvert was noted , as well as some ditching improvement . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that Highway bills totaling $ 2531 . 88 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : Spaulding and Saltonstall . Moved by Clm . Baker , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that General bills totaling $ 2225 . 47 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : Spaulding and Saltonstall . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that Grant E . Abrams be reappointed as Multiple Residence Inspector , retroactive to January 1 , 1962 , and that he file the5;, necessary oath . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : Spauling and Saltonstall . N otice from N . Y . S .ate Department of Public Works regarding pro - posed reconstruction at junction of routes 79 and 330 , was read and placed on file . Card from Justice Spaulding was received with appreciation . L etter from Mrs . Katrina Morse regarding road signs on Ellis Hollow and Turkey Hill > Roacb was read and placed on file . The Town Clerk was instructed to acknow3. ge receipt , and advise that the former will be referred to Town of Ithaca where the sign in question is located ; and that the matter of signs for Turkey Hill Rd . will be referred to Co . Hwy . Supt . John Miller . Town Clerk further in- structed to write accordingly to Mr . Miller and Town of Ithaca Supervisor Boynton . L etter from Mr . Joseph Borowits regarding condition of South Cas - well Rd . was read and placed on file . Town Clerk was instructed to acknowledge and advise of efforts to be made on this road this summer . L etter from Mr . Calvin Seavey , Mayor Village of Dryden , advising that Mr . William Haas has been delegated to represent them on Town P lanning Board , was read land placed on file . Justice Hoagland present' the problem of old cemeteries in the town- ship , and the Board discussed possible means of best providing for them . The Supervisor will check into this matter further . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that the meeting be adjourned until May 8th at 8 pm . Lewis Gridley , Supervisor Jane Korbas , Town Clerk 389 May 8 , 1962 The adjourned meeting was called to order at 8 p . m . by Supervisor Gridley . Present were Clm . Baker and Saltonstall , Justice Hoagland , and Atty . Williamson . Absent : Justice Spaulding . The next regular meeting was set for Tuesday , June 5th . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that bill of $479 . 70 for snow removal - Hwy item 4 - be added to Highway bills audited on May 4 . Roll call vote , all present voting YES . Absent : . Justice Spaulding . The meeting was recessed for informal discussion . Meeting called to order again at 9 : 20 p . m . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that Dr . Broad or ;Mr . Liguori of the County Health Department be asked to meet with the Town Board , and the Planning Board , ( if they wish to be present ) to discuss location of health problems in the town , with respect to water and sewage and that the meeting be adjourned until 8 p . m: May 15thm , Motion carried and so ordered . Lewis Gridley , Supervisor Jane Korbas , Town Clerk May 15 , 1962 The adjourned meeting was called to order at 8 p . m . by Supervisor Gridley . Present were Justice Hoagland , Clm . Baker and Saltonstall , Dr . Broad and Mr . Liguori of the Health Department , and members of the Planning Board . The meeting was recessed• to discuss with repre - sentatives of the Board of Health , health problems as they exist in the Town of Dryden . Meeting called to order again at 9 : 50 p . m .
