The regular monthly weeting of the Dryden Town Board was
called to order by Supervisor Gridley . Present were Justices
Hoagland and Spaulding , Councilman Baker , Highway Supt . Beach ,
and Assessor Abrams .
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved .
Representatives from the Bone Plain Road were present to ask
that attention be given to the ditches and general road condi -
tions on the west end of that road . The . Highway Superintendent
was directed to investigate the problem and to arrange to have
the ditch cleared with the grader as soon as weather permits .
Moved - by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that Highway
bills totaling $ 3441 . 56 be paid as audited , Roll call vote , '
all voting YES .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that
General Bills totaling $ 652 . 75 be paid as audited . Roll call
vote , all voting YES .
Letter from Mr . Schooley - :asking for a reply to his request for
TV franchise was read . Justice Hoagland offered the following
resolution and moved its adoption : Be it resolved that the Town
Clerk be instructed to write to Mr . Schooley , advising him that
insofar asttherhave determined to this point , there does not
appear to be need for a franchise ; but that further review
might be necessary , dependent upon where the poles are to be
set ; and further , that contents of this letter be subject to
Atty . Williamson ' s advice and approval . Resolution seconded
by Clm . Baker . Motion carried and so ordered .
Letter from Atty/ Thaler re : Genung Garden Road was read , and
the Town Clerk instructed to follow up the matter , so that
the deed can be drawn up .
Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that the
following fire wardens be appointed for 1961 : Lloyd Schutt ,
Allen Lamont , Henry Prince , Harry Whipple , Sibley Stewart ,
Ralph Whittier , Foster English , and Lloyd Hart . Motion
carried and so ordered . : :
Hwy . Supt . Beach reported that he has appointed Richard Case
Assistant Highway Superintendent . He also reported that men
in the highway department have requested a wage imcrease . It
was agreed that Hwy . Supt . Beach and Supervisor Gridley dis -
cuss this , and other highway department problems , with Asst .
Hwy . Supt . Case , t . :
The problem of exmeption presented by Ivan Marion at the Feb -
ruary meeting was referred to Assessor Abrams . It was agreed
that the Town Clerk write to Mr . Marion , suggesting that he
and Mr . Abrams meet with the VA representative , and that the
Board would abide by the decision they reach together .
Assessor Abrams reported that the Natural Gas case is still
pending .
Moved by Clm . Baker , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that the
Town Clerk be instructed to write to Assemblyman Ashberry and
Senator Metcalf , expressing the Board ' s desire to support in
principle Assembly Intro . #1388 , which provides for tax exemp -
tions on property owned by persons over the age of 65 . Motion
carried and so ordered .
The next regular meeting will be Tuesday , April 4 , 1961 .

meeting be adjourned . Motion carried and so ordered .
