The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was called to
order by Supervisor Gridley at 8 p . m . Present were Councilmen
Baker and Saltonstall , Justices Hoagland and Spaulding , Assessor
Abrams , and Asst . Hwy . Supt . Case .
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved .
Mr . Gordon Nesbitt , Victor Colby , and Thomas Payne , representing
the northwast corner of the Town , came into the meeting to ask
if ' the Board would consider contracting with the South Lansing
Fire Department to assist in protection in their area . It was
stated that the Board would {cheek into this , with the idea of getting
a decision ]before the budget hearing .
Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that
General bills totaling $ 271 . 93 be paid as audited . Roll call vote ,
all voting YES .
Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that highway bills
totaling $ 8070 . 49 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Justice Hoagland offered the following resolutioh and moved its adop -
tion : Be it resolved that $ 1500 , 00 be transferred from the General
Fund to Highway Fund , Item #3 . Seconded by Clm . Saltonstall . Roll
call vote , all voting YES .

L etter of August 17 , 1960 from N . Y . S . Electric and Gas , regarding
E tna street lighting contract was read . ( File - Light districts )
The Town Clerk was instructed to write to Mr . E . F . Brundage , ad -
vising him of the proposals , and asking the opinion of the residents
concerned , so that the figures can be incorporated in the preliminary
budget .
The next regular meeting will be Monday , Oct . 3rd , at 8 p . m .
The Town Clerk was instructed to notify the Chairman of each of the
election districts about the local registration days , and the plan
for comlebined districts . The chairmen are to be asked to work out
the daily schedule with their own inspectors . Inspectors also are
to be reminded to instruct voters on their own voting place . •
After discussion on renewal of fire contracts the following were pro -
posed as annual payments on a five year contract basis :
Dryden - $ 3000 . 00
Varna - 2500 . 00
Freeville 1000 . 00
Brooktondale - $ 800 . 00
McLean - 400 . 00
South Lansing will be considered after it is known whether they want
to contract to assist .
Moved . by Clm . Baker , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that the Town
Clerk be instructed to inform the chairman of the Board of Directors
o f each of the fire companies of these proposals . Roll call vote ,
all voting YES .
It was reported that kkx topping of the ,Thomas Road is complete .
Genung . Road_ has been topped with gravel to the Genuhg house . Work
n ow is concentrated of Dutcher Road , the base having been completed
about half way .
Assessor Abrams reported that the Town is growing at a rate of app -
✓ oximately 300 new parcels a year/ There are now about 3000 parcels ,
and 5500 buildings , with about 80 new buildings a year . Every month
there are three or four complaints about building construction . With

things moving at . this rate , it is impossible to
keep up with all the work being donee The Assessor recommends
that steps be taken toward consideration of a building code and
building permits to aid in keeping up with what is going on in the
Town , and for the protection of those having building done .

for the month of August .

be adjourned . Motion carried and so ordered .
