The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held
November 5 , 1959 at 7 : 30 P . M . at the Town Office .
Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding and Hoag-
land , Councilman Saltonstall , Supt . of Highway Beach and Assessor
Abrams .
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved .
The hearing of the Preliminary budget as published was read
at 8 : 00 P . M .
Supervisor Gridley reported on the Bingo question and said
that in as much as the absentee ballots had already been mailed ,
there would be no way of voting on the Bingo question at the Novem-
ber election this year and that there would have to be a special
election or wait until next general election .
He also reported that the map of the proposed Baker Hill Road
had been turned over to Mr . Tuthill of the Gas and Electric Company
. and that they were now making a survey .
Regarding the right of the Town to place signs for traffic
control . The Town may not place such signs except by approval of the
State Traffic control . Mr . Gridley said that he had been approached
regarding control of traffic on the Sheldon Road .
Harold Case was the only interested person appearing fofj the
budget hearing . The preliminary budget was read and reviewed in its
entirety and amended . The hearing closed and Justice Hoagland
offered the following resolution and asked its adoption :
Whereas , this Town Board has metat the time and place
specified in the notice of public hearing on the preliminary
budget and heard all persons desiring to be heard thereon ;
now therefore , be it
• RESOLVED , $ that this Town Board does hereby adopt such prelim-
inary budget as amended , as the annual budget of this . Town
• for the fiscal year beginning on the first day of January , 1960
and that such budget as so adopted be entered in detail in
the minutes of the proceedings of this Town Board , and be it ;
FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Town Clerk of this Town shall
prepare and certify , in duplicate , copies of said annual
budget as adopted by this Town Board , together with the estima s ,
if any , CA adopted,Y, .pus,u
rant. to» Section1: 4202 =A , : -sub:&. 2 , of the
Town Law and deliver one copy thereof to the Supervisor of
this Town to be pfesented by him to the Board of Supervisors
of this county .
This Resolution was seconded by Councilman Saltonstall . Roll call
vote . Clm . Baker abseng , all other members voting YES .

Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that w
the General bills , totaling $ 3154 . 10 , Election bills of $ 1383 . 76 and the
Louth Project bills , totaling $409 . 56 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote ,
Clm . Baker absent , all other members voting YES .
Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that the Highw
bills , totaling $ 2467 . 66 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all vot -
ing YES .
A communication was read from the Brooktondale Fire Commissioners ,
stating that their contract with the Dryden Town Board would expire
December 31 , 1959 .
Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that
Supervisor Gridley negotiate with the Brooktondale Fire District to renew
their contract with the Town of Dryden . Roll call , Clm . Baker absent ,
all other members voting YES .
In as much as no application had been received for the position of
dog enumerator , the appointing of one was left to Supervisor Gridley .
Justice Spaulding offered the following resolution and asked its
adoption : WHEREAS ; there is not sufficient funds in Highway fund Item 3 , to
meet the October bills , be it resolved that the sum of $ 1000 . 00 be
transferred from Item 2 to Highway fund Item 3 , machinery repairs .
The resolution' was seconded by Justice Hoagland . Rotl call vote , Clm . Baker
absent , all other members voting YES .
Justice Hoagland offered the following Resolution and asked its
adoption :
ViBEREAS , several budget items of the General fund are low on
funds , BE IT RESOLVED that there be transferred from the contingent fund
to the following budget items :
Association of Towns $ 72 . 36
Repairs , light , heat , phone 150 . 00
Compensation Ins . 1085 . 62
Fire & Liability 183 . 20
L and surveys 185 . 00
P rinting , adv . , postage 180 . 00
Town Clerk , Office &
other expense 80 . 00
D og enumerator 51 : 60
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED : that the sum of $ 995 . 00 be transferred
from surplus funds to the Contingent fund .
This resolution was seconded by Clm . Saltonstall . Roll call vote ,
Clm . Baker absent , all others voting YES .
Clm . Saltonstall offered the following Resolution and asked its
adoption :
WHEREAS , the Town of Dryden is owing the County of Tompkins a
sum of money for payment due the city of Ithaca and for
Compensation Insurance under the County self - insured program-
BE IT RESOLVED that there be paid to the County Treasurer
the following :
1 - For payment due the city $ 981 . 85
2 - For Compensation Insurance 1785 . 62
This resolution was seconded by Justice Hoagland . Roll call vote ,
all voting YES .

30 8 Clm . Saltonstall offered the following resolution and asked its
adoption :
RESOLVED , that the Dryden Town Board does hereby sponser
three Youth Recreational Projects as approved by the New York
State Youth Commission , as requested by the Bethel Grove Communit;
Home ; Varna Community Association and Ellis Hollow Community .
This resolution was seconded by Justice Spaulding . Roll call vote ,
all voting YES .
The next meeting of the Board will be held at 2 : 00 P . M . on
