HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-06-03 292 June 3 , 1959 . The regular monthly meetingnof the Town Board was held June 3rd at 7 : 30 P . M . at the Town Office . Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding and Hoagland , Councilman Saltonstall ; Supt . of Highway Beach and Assessor Abrams . The minutes of the May 4th meeting , also the special meeting held May 20th , were read . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by 61m . Saltonstall that these minutes be approved . Motion Carried . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that the Supervisor be empowered to pursue the matter of a right of way from Cornell University from the Sapsucker Woods road to the end of the Lansing road in the Town of Lansing . Motion Carried . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that • the Highway Bills , totaling $4 , 794 . 90 , bd paid as audited . Roll call - all voting YES . The Highway Superintendent reported that no State aid was available for topping any Erwin Road in 1959 . Moved by C lm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that the General bills totaling 442 . 61 and the Youth Project bills of $47 . 06 be paid as audited . Roll Call , all voting YES . A communication was read from August Thiede tendering his resignation as Town Constable effective June first . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that his resignation be accepted . Motion carried . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that Donald Hulslander and James Murray be appointed Constables and that the necessary bonds be filed . Roll call vote , all voting YES . A communication was read from Katrina Morse , submitting her resignation as Inspector of Election in District No . 1 . Mr . E . F . Brundage , chairman of the Town of Dryden Republican committee , recommended a list of names of persons to act as Election Inspectors for the six districts in the Town of Dryden . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that the slate of Inspectors of Election , submitted by the Repub - lican committee , be accepted ; and in as much as the Democratic ommittee did not submit a slate , ghe same Inspectors as served last year remain for another year . M . at the Village Hall . Supt . of Highway Beach stated the need for a new tractor mowing machine . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice bpaulding , that the Town advertise for bids for a tractor mowing machine , bids to be opened June 17th at 8 : 00 P . M . at the Town Office . Roll call vote , all voting YES . The next regular meeting will be held July 6th at 7 : 30 P . M . This meeting adjourned until dune 17th at 7 : 30 P . M . Lewis Gridley , Supervisor . Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding and Hoagland ; Clm . Baker and Saltonstall and Supt . of Highway Beach . The bids ffor Tractor and Mower were opened and read . After a discussion , Clm . Saltonstall moved that the bids be rejected . The motion was seconded by Justice Spaulding and carried . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that. the Town advertise again for sealed bids for a Tractor mowing machine , bids to be opened July 6th at 8 : 00 P . M . Roll call vote , all voting YES . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that a Constable ' Guide be purchased . Motion carried . A communication was read from Attorney Newman , recommending a few revisions to the Zoning ordinance as proposed . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that this communicatio4ibe placed on file and the recommendations be considered . Motion carried . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that this meeting adjourn until June 24th at 8 : 00 P . M . . Carried and so ordered . Lewis Gridley , Supervisor . Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding and Hoagland ; Clm . Baker and Saltonstall ; Attorney Newman and Assessor Abrams . The proposed Zoning Ordinance was discussed . , Mr , Brown and Mrs . hevnn were present and expressed their objection to having a commercial district on the Hanshaw Road . Motion made by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clmo Saltonstall , that the Supervisor be empowered to make arrangements for a public hearing relative to a proposed zoning ordinance . Roll call vote , all voting YES . On motion , meeting adjourned . Lewis Gridley , acting as Clerk .
