HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-05-04 290. May 4 , 1959 . The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held May 4 , 1959 at 8 : O0':: ° . M . at the Office Building . Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justice Hoagland , Councilmen Baker and Saltonstall , Superintendent of Highway Beach and Assessor Abrams . The minutes of the April 6th meeting were read for information alsothe minutes of the adjourned meeting of April 11th were read and approved . i. . A written report of the Zoning Commission by Mrs . Payne , secretary , was read . Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that this report be accepted , placed on file and a letter of appreciation of their untiring work and efforts be sent to each member of the Zoning Committee . This motion was carried . A communication was ' read from John M . Kingsbury , commenting on the dust nuisance of the Thomas Road . Clm . Saltonstall offered the following resolution and asked its adoption : . Resolved that : An investigation be made and if possible "- proceed to make application for topping of . , l the Thomas Road on. the Erwin Plan . _ A _ Clm . Baker seconded this resolution . Roll call vote . All voting YES . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that the Highway bills , totaling $ 2 , 492 . 41 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES . Moved by Clm . Baker , seconded by Justice Hoagland , that the General bills , totaling $ 4,595 . 42 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES . A discussion followed regarding a suitable place for another Town Dump . No action taken . Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and asked its adoption : Resolved that : Supervisor Gridley be empowered to sell one of the Town Voting machines for $ 1 , 478 . 30 . Clm . Baker seconded this resolution . Roll call vote , All voting YES . Supervisor Gridley reported that he had discussed the Baker Hill road with Mr . Tuthill of the New York State Gas & Electric Co . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded by Clm . Baker , that the Town h ave a preliminary survey made on a proposed road across the Lyle H all and Gas & Electric properties from near the top of the Baker H ill road , northeasterly to Route 13 . Roll call vote , All voting YES . Moved by Clm . Saltonstall , seconded. by Justice Hoagland , that the Supervisor be empowered to set a date for a public hearing on the Zoning Ordinance , and take care of other necessary proceedures . RESOLVED , that CONSENT be and the same hereby is given that the Town Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Dryden make a finding . and Order discontinuing the aforedescribed portion of Townline Road which Te has become useless since it was laid out by reason of the fact that the execution of the Master Plan of the Tompkins County Airport projects the runway to within 200 feet of Lansing-Dryden Townline Road which is endangering to traffic on that portion of the aforedescribed said road thereby rendering this portion useless . AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to forthwith cause such Releases to be recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County of Tompkins and upon its . return ®1_ • .,r. A special meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held at the Town Office Building , May 20 th , 1959 at 8 : 00 P . M . Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding and Hoagland , Councilmen Baker and Saltonstall , Highway Supt . Beach and County Attorney Robert Williamson . Attorney Williamson read the application of Cornell University to discontinue a portion of the Townline Road ( road also known as Sapsucker Woods Rte) in the Town of Dryden . A discussion followed regarding a right of way both into Town of Dryden to Ellis Road and / or to the new Town of Lansing Road south of the airport property . Councilman Saltonstall offered the attached resolution and asked its adoption . This resolution was seconded by Councilman Baker . Roll call vote taken- All voting YES . No further business , meeting was adjourned . Lewis Gridley , acting as Clerk . Papers pertaining to this resolution are filed in the safe under Highway files .
