January 3 , 1958
The regular ; mozjthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held
at the Town Office Building on January 3 , 1958 at 7 : 30 P . M .
Present were : Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding , &Whitford ,
Councilman Baker and Saltonstall , Hwy . Supt . Beach.
The minutes ; of the December meetings were read for information .
Moved by. Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that the
Hwy bills ' totaling $ 2 , 901 . 10 , be paid as audited when funds are available .
Roll can vote taken , all voting yes .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Councilman Saltonstall that
the * general. bills totaling $448 . 67 be paid as audited . Roll can vote

taken , all voting yes .
Rev. Gibby was present in regard to the Town road name changes , as
he is hiping to complete the new directory soon.
Moved by Councilman Baker , seconded by Justice Whitford that the
Tompkins County Rural News be designated as the official newspaper for
the Town of Dryden during the year 1958 . Carried and so ordered .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Councilman Baker that the
regular monthly meetings of the Dryden Town Board for the year 1958 will
be held on the 3rd of each month , or as near the . 3rd as possible , as
agreed upon by the Board . Carried and so ordered .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Saltonstall that
' the . Town Clerk and other Towh Officials be allowed 8¢ a mile when
required for Official Business . •
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Councilman Saltonstall thet

Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Councilman Baker that Ezra
Williams be appointed Deputy Hwy Superintendent . Carried anti so ordered .

Jane Gridley beL appointed Deputy Supervisor . Carried aria so ordered .
Moved by Councilman Baker seconded by Justice Spaulding that the
time of payment of Officer ' s salaries for the year 1958 be as follows :
Supervisor , TownClerk , Justices Spaulding and Whitford and Assessor on
the First of each month : Councilman Baker and Saltonstall every 3 months .

that Charles Newman be appointed Town Attorney . Carried .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Councilman Baker that
the Salaries be accepted as adopted . Roll call vote taken , all
voting yes .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Saltonstall
that the Supervisor talk with the Varna Fire Co , in regard to
renting the Varna Fire Hall for a voting District . Carried .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Spaulding that
the Road Name changes as recommended by the Planning Board and
Special Committee be accepted . Carried .
Supervisor Gridley discharged the Special Comm . tith Thanks .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilmanothat the Ellis
Creek Road be topped , a distance of one mile and three tenths .
Roll call vote taken , all voting yes .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Justice Whitford that
the agreement be accepted of $$ 14 , 000 . for general repairs on the
106 . 1 miles of road , $ 7 , 000 . for Gas line road A , and road B to
be resurfaced . Roll call vote taken, All voting yes .

that we accept the State prices for the purchase of pipe used for
Hwy . purposes . Roll call vote , all voting yes .

that the Supt . of Hwy . bring in Speciifications for the purchase
of a gravel processor , and the Town Clerk be authorized to advertise for
bids to purchase a gravel processor both with and without trade- in
allowance on 1948 processor . Wee reserve the right to accept or .

that the Town. Clerk be authorized to advertise to accept bids to
sell the 1948 Acme Gravel Processor . Bids to be opened at a closed
meeting at 8 m 30 p . ICI . Feb . 3 , 1958 . All bids . shall be accompanied by
a certified check in the amount of the bid . We reserve the right to
accept or re , ectllany or all bids . Roll call vote , all voting yes .
The next meeting will be held Feb . 3 , 1958 at 7130 P . 41 .

Dryden , $ 18 , 451 . 00 , Allowance on Acme Portable Crushing Plant 11 , 500 ,
Balance $ 16 , 9151 . 00 . Price delivered of same crushing plant without
trade - in $ 17 , 972 . N .

that Mr . Blasckwell ' s bid be accepted with the trade - in on the Portable

A communication was read from George Guest , resigning from
the Planning Board . •

that we accept George Guests resignation . C-arried .

that Mr ,, Sadd be . appointed . as Temporary Chairman for the Planning
Board . Carried . .

•An emergency meeting of the Drydeh= ToWn Board Was held at the
home of Justice C . Harry Spaulding on Feb . ' 25 , 1G58 at 2 : 00 P . I . •
Present were Sup . Gridley , Justice Spaulding , Councilmen Saltonstall
and Baker , and Hwy , Supt . Beach .
Supervisor Gridley called the meeting to discuss with the Town
Board , the present problem of Snow Removal . Many Town `RoadS still
being snowbound , and he eglIpmert inadequate .
Richard Case , . theme ushkosh representatives Mt . Tohns . u- lu Hr ;
Bui,:g31o. c , Walters representative * were present to give information
on their tricks and plows . •
The - Town Board decided to go to Summerhill to see an Oshkosh in action .
and a Walters Demonstration expected to be Feb . 27 .
The meeting then adjourned until Feb . 28 , 195E at ' 9 : 00 A . M . •
Feb . 28 , 1958 a ' ma jority ' of the Dryden Town Board ' together with 4
a party Cf .,interested County offiaaials went to the Town of Pompey ,
. where they observed a very successful demonstration of a Walters ,
Sno - Fyter . Meeting adjourned at 3 : 00 P . M .
