Supt . Beach and Assessor Abrams . `Minuteslgof fLe October meeting were read for information . Moved bbi. Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding that the general bills) totaling $ 1 , 879 . 75 , Health bill of $ 30 . 50 , and the Youth Commission bills of $ 140 . 09 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote taken , • all voting yep . • Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that the Highway bills!I totaling $ 2 , 703 . 56 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote taken , all voLiag yes . The road! tour was held November 1 . Messrs . piomas Merrill and Clyde La. leur presented a petition for improvement t ,o the Bone Plain road , or called W . Washington Road . A petition was also presented asking for the upper creek road from the village of Etna Northeasterly to intersection with the main Freeville Road , to be paved . A `... communication was also presented from Mervin C . and Joan Monson asking for improvement to Hunt Hill road . ' . • A letter was read from Grant Abrams , Assessor withdrawing his request for tie increase of $ 500 . on his salary . • Mrs . Kat ' ina , Morse , Messrs . A . K . Fletcher , and Frank Hanshaw were present for the budget hearing . The notice of the public hearing on the Preliminary Budget as published , waS read , and the complete budget was read . Justice Shaw objected to his salary increase of $ 100 , as was • included in the b += dget at the Oct . meeting . Justice Shaw moved that the salaries of tfrcouncilman be reduced from 800 to $ 700 . Seconded by Justice Whitford . Carried by, 3 to 1 ' opposed . Mr . A . K . Iiletcher dissented to the increase of $ 250 . for the Highway Superintendent . There was some discussion as to the Justices salary . Justice Spaulding offered the following resolution and asked its adoption : WHEREAS , ithis Town Board has met at the time and place . specified in the notice „ of public hearing on the preliminary budget and heard all persons desiring to be heard ' thereon : now therefore , be it RESOLVED , that this Town Board does hereby adopt such preliminary budget as amended as the annual budget of this Town for the fiscal year beginning on ' the 1st day of January , l958 , and that such budget as so adoptedl;' be entered in detail in the minutes of the proceedings of this Town Board , and be it FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Town Clerk of this Town shall prepare and certify , in duplicate , copies of said annual budgetias adopted by this Town Board , together with the estimates if any , adopted pursuant to Section 202 - a , subd . 2 , of the Town Law and ft deliver one copy (hereof to Ith. ,» Supervisors c e 'f hts?AloftW4rftto be ? resented by I . am . .to the Board " of Supe" rvisfs .QflriS county . .; 71 T '± ' - This resolizt: iOn was seconded by Councilman Baker . Roll call vote taken , all voting yes . • • li 256 • • • Justice Shaw offered, the following resolution and asked its adoption : • RESOLVED , that the Town Board of the Town of Dryden does hereby sponsor Four Youth Recreational Projects as approved by the NEW YORK STATE Youth Commission , as requested by the Bethel Grove Community Home ; Etna Community ; Varna Community Association ; and Ellis Hollow Community . Seconded by Justice Whitford . Roll call vote taken , all voting yes . Applications for dog enumerator were read from Grant Abrams and August Thiede . Moved by Justice ' Spaulding , seconded by Justice Whitford that August Thiede be appointed dog enumerator for 1958 . carried and so ordered . Councilman Bakeroffered the following resolution , BE IT RESOLVED that $ 300 . be transferred • from General Fund to Item 3 , Hwy , under heading Repair of Machinery . Seconded by Justice Spaulding , Roll call vote taken , , all voting yes . The Planning Board had sent in their new name changes for • various Town Roads . Justice Shaw moved this matter be tabled , seconded by Justice Whitford . The next meeting will be held Tuesday evening , Dec . 3 , at 7 : 30pm . These minutes were read and approved . Nellie Rice , Town Clerk Lewis Gridley , Supervisor . • . %RY • • • • • • 257 December 3 , 1957 • The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held at the Town Of ' ice , ' Tuesday evening December 3 , 1957 at 7 : 30 P . M . • Present were : Supervisor Gridley , Justice Shaw , Whitford , Councilman Baker , Assessor Abrams& Councilman=` Elect , Leverett Beach Saltonstall Jr . , Justice Spaulding & Hwy . Supt . were absent . The minutes of the November meeting were read for information . Mr . amd •Mrs . Percy Watrous were present and asked about the Town. Board taking over his road , he had constructed . • Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Whitfordthat the Town Board request the , County and Town Hwy Superintendents to inspect the road . Mr . LaFleur was present to ask what had been decided about his road . This would be referred to the Hwy . Superintendent . Justice Shaw asked that each Youth Commission show proof of Insurance to the Tawn Board . Moved by Juab ± ce Shaw , seconded by Councilman Baker that the • General bills totaling $ 779 . 93 , and the Youth Commission bills totaling $ 198 . 90 be Yes . paid as audited . Roll call vote taken all voting Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that the Hwy . bills totaling $ 1 , 013 . 93 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting yes . Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Councilman Baker that the First NationaLBank of Dryden be designated as .a depository for the Town of Dryden monies for 1958 . Carried and so ordered . The date for the annual Town audit was set for Dec . 28 , at 9 a . m . Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Whitford that all bills and checks inclm.ding salaries be drawn by Dec , 16 , and the books closed for the year . Rolliicall vote , all voti ng yes . Moved by Councilman Baker , seconded by Justice Whitford that August Thiede and 'Clyde Stevens be appointed Constables for 1958 . Carried . The next meeting will be held ; January 3 , 1958 . Rev . Gibbs cahe in for the meeting concerning the road name changes as presented by the Planning Board . Supervisor Gridley appointed Councilman Baker ab.d Justice Whitford . to work with Hwy . Supt . Beach and ' George Guest on. the new name road changes . Moved by Justice Whitford , secohded by Justice Shaw that the following tran'sferS be made : From Contingent Fund to Town Hall & Offices ( Compensation bf Employees ) $15. 55 : To purchase of furniture & equipment , 197 . 93 ; Annual audit and Exam , 171 . 47 ; To Mscl ( Blood tests ) 55 . 00 ; To Town Share Of Social Security , 43 . 47 ; For Town Clerk from Compensation of employees to office & other Expense , 27 . 26 ; and to Supervisor for - office & other expense 19 . 40 . And be it further resolved that 11000 . be transferred from General fund surplus to Hwy . fund Item 3 , and be it further resolved that 1216 . 00 xxtx t. he transferred from Hwy . Item., 4 to Hwy . Moved byOourcilman Baker seconded by Justice • Whitford that • r - - ,, • • 258 _ Supervisor Gridley , Councilman Saltonstall , and Assessor Abrams attend the Association of Towns meeting to be held in New York , Feb . 10 , 11 , 12 . Roll call vote , all voting yes . Justice Whitford offered the suggestion that as a member was leaving the Town Board , sThelBoard should extend their ` heartfelt appreciation for the loyalty of Justice Shaw for eight years '. The feeling was unanimous and Justice Shaw expressed his appreciation in working with the Board . These minutes were read , corrected and approved . . C . for a Special Census to be made in the year 1958 for the Town of Drtaen , N . Y . This Township id located in Tompkins County . QND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Supervisor transmit to the Bureau of Census , the necessary fee , when said feeis known . Roll call vote taken , all voting , Yes . . Justice Spaulding was appointed Chairman for the Annual Audit ," Lfl Moved by Olm . Baker , seconded by Justice Shawthat the Supervisor records were found to be correct and accepted by the Board , also the Superintendent of Hwy Bloks were audited , found to be correct and accepted . Present were : Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding , Shaw , Whitford and Clm . Baker . On completion of the audit , the meeting was adjourned , Nellie Rice , Town Clerk Lewis Gridley , Supervisor . .. �
