July 2 , 1957
The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was
held at the Town Office on July 2 , 1957 at 7 : 30 PM .
Present were : Supervisor Gridley , Justices , Shaw , Spaulding ,
Whitford , Councilman Baker , Hwy Supt . Beach , and Assessor Abrams .
The minutes of the June meeting were read for information .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker , that
the Hwy bills totaling $ 2 , 205 . 72 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote
taken , all voting Yes . .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that I/
the General bills totaling $ 257 . 89 , and the Youth Project bills
totaling $ 121 . 85 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote , All voting Yes .
Mr . E . F . Brundage submitted the nape of Mrs . Edith Dimock
as Republican extra clerk , and Mr . Chandler Morse submitted the
nape of Mrs . Margaret Wilbur as Democrat extra clekk for Dist , l .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Spaulding that
Mrs . Dimock and Mrs . Wilbur be accepted as extra clerkd for Dist .
No . 1 . Carried and so ordered .
Rev . Robert Gibby was present in regard to two petitions which
had been sent in regarding the changing of the name of Ellis Hollow
and Ringwood road . Rev . Gibby is numbering that section now .
Moved by Justice Whi,tford , seconded by Justice Shaw that the matter
be tabled until Supervisor Gridley could talk with Sup . Lounsbery
of Caroline , Mr . Miller , the Co . Hwy . Supt . , and the Co . Attorney
regarding changing the name of the road .
The following names were presented for the Planning Board
and terms of office suggested were : 1 year , Chilion Sadd ,
2 years , - Donald Harrington , 3 years , Charles McGory , 4 years ,
Mrs . Katharine Payne ; 5 years , Frank Renshaw ; 6 years , Carl James ;
7 years , George Guest , who is Chairman of the Board .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded byCouncilman Baker that the
slate of names be accepted as read , and the term of office as
designated on the list , subject to the pleasure of the Board .
Carried and so ordered .
Grievance Day will be July 9 , with the Board and Assessor Abrams . ,
Hours from 10 AM till 2 PM . at the Town Office .

Acting Justices of the Peace receive thenNews letter which is sent
out every other week . Carried and so ordered .

The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held
at the Town Office on August 5 , 1957 at 7 : 30 PM .
Present were : 11 Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding , Whitford ,
Councilman Baker, , Hwy . Supt . Beach , and Assessor Abrams . Justi ce
Shaw was absent .
The minutes of the July meeting were read for information .
Mr . . Emmons Oggen was present in regard to naming the Ellis
Hollow Road , Also Rev . Gibby was present regarding the same matter .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker ,
That the road beginning at the boundary of the Ithaca and Town
Line road to Ellis Hollow Community , thence Northerly to the
intersection of Ringwood and Creek roadd be henceforth known as
the Ellis Hollow road , and that section from Ellis Hollow Community Sou -
Southerly to the . Dryden - Caroline Town Line henceforthbbe
known as the Ellis Hollow Road South . Carried and so ordered .
Mr . Henry Reed. was present in regard to the Varna Town Hall .
Moved by Councilman Baker , seconded by Justice Spaulding that the
Town urchase
p 5 'rolls roofing nails and roofing cement for the
repair of the roof of the Varna Town Hall . Carried and so ordered .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Councilman Baker , that
the General bill's totaling $ 285 . 65 , and The Youth Comm . bills
totaling $ 275 . 70V1, be paid as audited . Roll call , All voting YES .
Moved by Justiice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that the
Hwy . bills totaling $ 5 , 559 . 29 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote ,
all voting YES .
A card of appreciation and thanks was read from the family of
Mr . Allen C . Beach .
A communicatioln was read from C : N . Baker , the Village Clerk , in
regard to askinglllthe Town Board to appoint Mr . James R . Murray as
Town Constable . Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice
Spaulding , that the matter be tabled till next meeting . Carried and
so ordered . 1
A petithon wasliread requesting a top on the Thomas road in Ellis
Hollow . This matter was tabled .

the Erwin Road be set up from Town Road 60 traveling Easterly on
road 58 for a distance of approximately one mile to Etna Commun�
ity , for the Erwin Project for next yaar . Roll call , A-i1 voting YES .

the following. polling places be designated for the coming year :.
