March 4 , 1957 The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held at the Town Office Building , oa Mar . 4 , 1957 at 7 : 30 P . M . Present were : Supervisor Gridley , , Justices , Shaw , Spaulding , Whitford , Councilman Baker , Highway Supt . Beach , and Assessor Abrams . The minutes of the February meeting were read for information . Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding that the General bills totaling $406 . 879, the Health bill of $ 5 . 00 , and the Youth Project bills of $ 323 . 13 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote , All voting YES . . Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that the Highway bills totaling $1 , 735 . 65 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote takeh , all voting YES . '' letter from the Automatic Voting Machise Co . . was read stating the price of a new voting machine was $1412 , F . O . B . Jamestown N . Y . with transportation to Drydeh being app . $ 15 . 00 .. Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that Justice Shaw continue with his Committee . nd remap ' the voting District #1 , and bring in the recommendations , for approval , and The Town Board will back the committee for the new district for next year . Carried . A_ request for appointment for Town Constable was read from James A . Murray . Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Councilman Baker that the To e Clerk notify Mr . Murray that the Town Board feels that they have a sufficient number of constables , . dd because of Bonding expense , it is not advisable to appoint more constables at this time . Carried . At communication from John L . Post , Weifare Commissioner was read stating that if the Town had a work project , Ernest Maxwell and Benjamin Van De Mark of Freeville , R . D . #2 , could be used . Supervisor Gridley being Service Officer , this situation was left for him to . decide what to do . 241 Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Spaulding that $ 500 . 00 be set up for tires and tools for the Highway Dept . Carried and so ordered . Moved by Justice Whitford , secooded by Justice Shaw that the Assessor purchase the Olympia Typewriter he had demonstrated to the Board . Roll call vote , all voting YES . He also pointed out a wide carriage could be purchased for this typewriter if and when needed for $60 . 00 . The next meeting will be held Wed . evening , April 3 , 1957 . Present were : Supervisor Gridley , Justices Shaw , Spaulding and Whitford , Councilman Baker , Assessor Abrams , and Hgy Supt . Beach . Former Supervisor Downey , Mr . Albert Hammond , Nationwide Insurance Representative , Mr . C . A . Randall and J . J . Harwood of the Varna Poloe substation were present . Minttes of the March meeting were read for information and approval . Moved by Councilman Baker , seconded by Justice Shaw that these minutes be approved as read . Carried . Mr . Downey explained that the Grange takes up some community project each year , and he proposed that if the Town Hwy . Dept . would set the posts , the Grange woulddattach the signs designating the Town Roads . He would talk it pver with the Grange at their next meetir s Mr . Hammond being the Nationwide Insurance agent living in the , Town of Dryden , The board approved Mr . Hammond taking over the Town Insurance polives now being handled by another representative „ of the same Company . ' Moved by Justice Shaw , seuonded by Justice Spaulding that the General bills totaling $ 1 , 262 . 79 , Health bill of $ 5 . 00 , and the Youth Project bills totaling $ 190 . 56 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote taken , all voting YES .
