June 6 , 1956
The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board
was held at the Town office Building , Wednesday Evening , June
6 , 1956 at 7 : 30 P, . M .
Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justices Baker , Shaw ,
Spaulding and Whitford , Highway Supt . Beach and Assessor Abrams
The minutes of the May meetings were read for information .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Shaw that
the names presented by the Chairman of the Democratic Comm .
be accepted and the others now on the list hold over as
Inspectors of Election for the coming year . Carried.
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Baker
that the Highway bills totaling $ 1 , 859 . 43 be paid as audited .
Roll call vote , ALL voting YES , ,
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that
the General bills of '4661 . 77 , and the Youth Project bills
totaling 4164 . 19 be paid as audited . Roll call vote . All voting YES .
Moved by Justice Baker , seconded by Justice Spaulding that
the Town of Dryden hereby elects to participate in the Tompkins
County Self - Insurance Plan commencing as of January1 , 19579such
participation to continue from year to year until terminated

by resolution of this board made and filed in accordance with
the Rules and Regulations of said plan . And be it further
✓ esolved that a certigied copy of this resolution be filed
w ith the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of Tompkins County
on or before July 15 , 1956 . Roll call vote , ALL voting YES .
Moved by Justice Baker , seconded by Justice . Spaulding
that the following Resolution be adopted : Resolved that the Town
o f Dryden hereby elects to bring within the coverage of the
Tompkins County Self - Insurance Plan all of its officers
whether electf;ue or appointed ; such coverage to commence on
January 1 , 1957 and continue until terminated by resolution of
this board made and filed as required by the Rules and Regulations
od said plan : And be it further resolved that a certified copy
of this resolution be filed with the Clerk of the Bglaa'docf
Supervisors of Tompkins County on or before July 15 , 1956 .

that 0600 . be set aside for Tires and Tools for the Highway . Dept .
Roll call vote , ALL voting YES . .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded byJJustice Whitford ' that the
following Resolution be accepted and approved ;
• Resolved , that the Town Board of the Town of Dryden approve
and authorize the ` formation of a Town Planning Commission . The
- purpose of the Planning Commission shall be to assist the Town
Board in the preparation of a Lonina Ordinance for the Township
including the preparation of a master plan , map and such ether 1
matters as may be designated by the Town Board .
The Planning Commission shall be made up of two members , el
elected or, appointed from each of the groups or organizations
chosen to represent the various areas of the Township . These areas
shall be West Dryden , Etna , Varna , Ellie Hollow , Snyder Hill , Bethel
Grove and such others as may be designated by the Board . The
✓ illages shall be ' asked to appoint representatives for coordination
purposes .
The members of the Planning Commission shall , at their first
meeting , elect a Chairman and. Secretary from the group .
The meetings of the group shall be arranged to permit a member
o f the Town Board to be present . Meetings shall be prior to the Town
Board
meeting toy permit the Board to act promptly on all matters requiring
its attention .
The services of the Town 4ttorney will be made available to
the Planning Commission when requested by the - Commission and
approved by the Board . Roll call vote . All voting YES .
A copy of the resolution shall be sent to a representative
o f each area mentioned .
The next Board meeting will be held Tuesday , July 3 ,
These minutes were read , corrected and approved .

meeting adjourn . Carried .
