September 6 , 1955 .
The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held
Tuesday evening , September 6th , 1955 at 7 : 30 P . M . at the Town Office
Building .
Supervisor Downey , Supt . of Highway Beach , and Justices Shaw ,
Baker and Whitford were present .
The minutes of the previous meeting were read for information .
A communication was read from the State Traffic Commission in
reply to our letter , requesting a speed zone on the Ellis Hollow Road .
This letter was placed on file and a copy sent to Arthur Dimock ,
Ithaca , R . D . # 2 , Ellis Hollow . Also a communication from committee on
Housing and Multiple Dwellings , regarding the progress made in
communities , since adopting the Multiple Residence Law .
A request from Grant Abrams , Slaterville Road , asking assistance
in the numbering of new residences on the Slaterville road , was brought
before the Board . Justice Shaw was appointed to investigate this matter .
Moved by Justice Baker , seconded by Justice Shaw , that Primary
Day and Registration Days be held on Daylight Saving time . Carried and
so ordered . •
A petition was read in the matter of the application for a Review
under A rt . 13 of the tax law of a tax assessment by Carl James ,
' 1''etitiorier , ' against the Town of Dryden to be held October 21 , 1955 at
Binghamton , N . Y . .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Whitford , that Attorney
Charles Newman act as council for the Town of Dryden in this case .
Motion carried and so ordered .
Supervisor Downey reported that a group had contacted him , asking
permission to use the West Dryden Church for Sunday morning services .
He advised them that a joint meeting should be held with the
executives of the Lutheran Church and the Town Board .

The date for the fall road tour was set for October 22nd at 9 : 00
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Baker , that the
general bills , totaling $ 401 . 71 and the Youth Project bills , totaling
$ 80 . 22 be paid as audited . Roll call vote taken , all voted YES .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Baker , that the
Highway bills totaling $4087 . 37 be paid as audited . Roll call vote ,
all voted YES .

A group from the Dryden Fire Department was present to discuss
with the Board the renewal of fftetr' rri`r-d- .d•oritract , which expires
December 31 , 1955 . There will be a public hearing October 3 , 1955

from 8 : 00 P . M . to 9 : 00 P . M . to consider Sil&#frenewal . ofd\ contracts with,
Harry Kerr , consultant of the Board of Equalization , was present
and answered questions regarding reappraisals and assessments .
The next Board meeting date was set for October 3 , 1955 .
The minutes of this meeting were read and approved .
Motion made by Justice Baker , seconded by Justice Whit o dF , that
meeting adjourn . Carried .
