HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-06-03 185 June 3 , 1955 . The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held. Friday evening , June 3 rd , 1955 at the Town Office Building . Present were Supervisor Downey , Justices Baker , Spaulding , Shaw and Whitford and Superintendent of Highway , Beach . The minutes of the May meeting were read for information . Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Justice Shaw , that the General bills , totaling f423 . 07 , the Health bill of 410 , 00 , and the Youth Project bills ofti. 34 . 41 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote taken , all voting YES . Moved by Justice Baker , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that the Highwa% bills , totaling 44 , 339 . 95 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES . A communication was read from the Board of Assessors , relative to 4 fence viewing of several properties .; ; also a communication was read . from the State Board of Equalization and Assessments in regard to the 1955 tentative special franchise valuation at the new 42% rate ._ Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Justice Baker , that new booths be made for the voting districts in the Town where they are needed . Roll call vote ; all voting YES . Supervisor Downey appointed Justice Spaulding to investigate for prices and etc . Moved by Justice Baker , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that the Student Council of the Dryden Central School be allowed the use of voting machine on June 8th for instructive purposes . Motion carried and so ordered . Justice Whitford reported on Section 134 and 135 , Town Law , re - garding Junk Yards . After a discussion , Justice Whitford was appointed to draw up a Resolution , whereby the Town Board could control junk yards , and present it to the Board at its next meeting . Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Spaulding that the slate of Inspectors of Election , submitted by the Republican committee , be accepted and in as much as the Democratic committee did not submit a slate , the same Inspectors remain for another year , . The Highway Superintendent , having recommended the purchase of a Power &rader Rake , it was moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Whitford , that the Town advertise for sealed bids for same , to be received at the Town Clerk ' s office until 8 : 00 P . M . on July 5th , 1955 , at which time the bids will be opened . Motion carried and so ordered . July 5th was the date set for the next regular Board meeting night . • The minutes of this meeting were read and approved . S yr \ ri„, MCI ra' CC o Li I ' ORATION \ MANUFACTURERS OF "WORKMAN " ROAD MACHINES • RAKES FOR ROAD MAINTENANCE & LANDSCAPING 1 2tnactia, iteut r • lee. 2631 June 21 , 1955 Town Clerk Town of Dryden Tompkins County D ryden , New York D ear Sir : In compliance with your request for bids on a RAKE to attach to your ` Power Grader , we offer to furnish one YORK RAKE , Model PG , new , to consist of a raking unit with depth control wheels , a framework for supporting the raking unit , and a vertical framework to be attached to the rear end of your Power Grader and to which the framework of the raking unit is to be attached by a hinged connection , together w ith mechanical means for lifting the raking unit and supporting frame - w ork , to a vertical position . The raking unit is to be reversible to discharge material to the right or left side of the road , as desired . The raking unit shall be in two sections , which meet end to end when in use , and in such position shall be not less than 13 ' 6 " long . The ✓ aking unit shall be equipped with 60 alloy spring steel teeth which shall be mounted between two parallel spring steel bars and be rigidly fastened to them by hardened steel cap screws with 12 " wide spacers between the teeth to keep them in proper alignment . The raking unit shall be supported when in use by adjustable depth control , pneumatic tired caster wheels , the overall diameter of the tires of which shall be not less than 14 " . The raking unit shall be so constructed that when not needed , the two sections may be brought into position parallel with each other ( folded ) and lifted to a vertical position where they will not interfere with the normal operation of the Grader , and where their overall width , together with all attaching parts to the Grader , shall be less than 8 ° . A mechanical means for raising the RAKE to a vertical position shall be included which shall consist of a hydraulic cylinder mounted in the vertical framework . The motive power for this cylinder shall be supplied by an electric motor and direct connected pump which we are to supply and which derives its power from the grader ' s battery . - 1 - Town of Dryden — 2 — May 21 , 1955 The POWER GRADER RAKE is warranted against defective material and w orkmanship for a period of 90 days from date of delivery .
