HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-12-04 141 December4 , 1953 . The regular meeting of the Town Board of Dryden was held in the Town Office Building on December4 , 1953 at 7 : 30 P . M . Present were Suprevisor Downey , Justices Whitford , Baker , ShawiSpaulding and Superintendent of Highway Beach . Supervisor Downey presided . The minutes of the special meeting held. November8 , 1953 were read for information . Supervisor Downey mentioned the reduced tak rate as com- pared with last year . 1953 Inside - 18 . 74- Outside- 22 . 14 . 1954 H. 17 . 90 - " - 20 . 96 . , Communication was read from Patch Oil Corp . requesting bids on fuel oil , gasoline , and other petroleum products . Justice Whit- ford move that communication be acknowledged and that theu be notified when bids are considered . j . Public meeting on bids for trucks opened at 8 . 00 P . M . and notice read . Discussion held on insurance coverage . This matter was tabled until next meeting . Moved by Justice Spaulding and seconed by Justice Shaw that the Youth Project bills amounting to 141 , 6 ,"1. and general fund billk,34.1.S; Q f be paid . Roll call vote taken . Allvoted yes . Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Baker that the highway bills , amounting to 1640 . 52 be paid . Roll call vote taken . Allmembers voted Yess . Moved by Justice Baker , second - ed by Justice Whitford that the First National Bank of Dryden be designated as depository for monies for 1954 . Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Whitford _ . that all checks , including salaries , be drawn by December 16 - 1953 Roll call vote taken . All members voted Yes . \ Moved by Justice Whitford seconded by Justice Shaw that the clerk be bonded for the full amount of tax warrant and insurance to cover office and her home . Also voted to bond Deputy Clerk . Moved by Justice Whitford , .seconded by Justice Baker that the constables be reappointed as follows : ,Ira w . Reed Ithaca , R . r2 ; Edward Welser , Etna , N . Y . , Freeman Carpenter , Freevillt and t4 Stevens , Freeville , # 2 . Motion carried . Thaler was read for a public hearing to be called by the Town of Dryden for the purpose of incorporating the Varna Fire Department . Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Shaw that the following resolution be adopted : Please Take Notice that a hearing will be held at the meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Dryden to be held on the 4 day of January , 1954 . at 8 . 00 P . M . so that all persons interested may be heard as to the consent requested of the Town Board to the formation of a fire corpora - tion by the Varna Volunteer Fire Company . The name of the proposed company is Varna Volunteer Fire Company , Inc . 142 • The names of the men signing the Certificate of Incorporation are : Robert C . Kellogg , Marvin Bogema ,. A . Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Baker that Supervisor Downey be reappointed welfare service officer for the town and necessary mileage allowed him . Carried and so ordered , Supervisor Downey reported that the county has made ar - rangements to build an addition to the Hospital from surplus money without tax ,. Abved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Spaulding that two dozen folding chairs be purchased for the town office similar to the ones now in use . Roll call vote . All voted yes . The Members of the Town Board of the Town: - of Dryden met at the Town Office Building on December 30 , 1953 at 9 : 00 A . M . for the annual audit for the year 1953 . Present were Justices Spaulding , Whitford , Shaw and Baker . Justice Spaulding acted as Chairman . All books of the Supervisor , Charles Downey and the Highway Supt . , Stacey Beach were audited and found correct . All Justice dockets were inspected and checked .
