HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-08-03 AUGUST #3 . 1949 . The regular monthly meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Dryden was held at the Town Clerks office on August 3rd . 1949 at 8 : 00 P . M . Present were Supervisor Charles G . Downey , Hwy . Supt; Stacy Beach and Justices Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , Alvordt Baker , Ara Johnson and Dewey Whitford : A Supervisor Downey presiding . The minutes of the July 2nd . meeting were read for information: Moved by Justice Cornelius and seconded by Justice Spaulding that the General bills totaling $ 182 . 32 plus the r Bethel Grove bill of $ 3 : T9 be paid as audited . Carried by a roll call vote': All Justices bting Yes : I/ Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Johnson that the Highway bills totaling 1267 . 19 plus 2 bills held for verification be paid as audited . Carried by a roll Call Vote . All Justices . voting Yes; Moved by Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice Baker that the following Polling Places be designated for the coming year _ Dist . No: 1 Varna Hall Dist . No . 2 Houtz Hail - Etna Dist .. No ; Dryden Village Hall Dist . No . 4 West Dryden Church Dist . No . 5 Dryden School ( Front Lobby ) Dist . No . 65 Fire Hall _ - Freeville Carried and so ordered: Moved by Justice Whitford .. and seconded by Justice Cornelius that the Insurance on the Six Voting Machines := owned by the Town of Dryden betransferred& from the Tompkins Co -op_; Insurance Co . to the Dryden-Groton Co - op Fire Insurance Co . Carried and so ordered: Moved by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice Whitford that Vernon Alp Martin be appointed Attendance Supervisor for the independent School Disticts of the Town of Dryden°°; Carried and so ordered. A communication from the Etna Community was presented by Justice Spaulding in regards to thedigging of a swimming pool _. in Fall Creek near the Etna bridge: . This request could not be granted as it is against the Public Health Law to swim in Fall Creek above the Rose Gardens at Forest Home: Justice Spaulding brought to the attention of the Town Board that the Community of Etna requested aid from the Town: to purchase Fire apparatus : The action taken by the Board was to refer them to the Neptune Hose Co': No: l , Dryden , N . Y. , said_ Cof. being under contract to the Town of Dryden until Dec: 31 , 1950 . Moved by Justice Cornelius and seconded by Justice Johnson that the Town Board allow the Town Clerk mileage of six: cents for distributing School supplies to the Trustees of the School Districts : Carried and so ordered: Justice Cornelius brought to the attention of the Board:. the water situation on the Sturgis road; ; ; the Highway Supt: and Justice Cornelius will act as a committee to investigate this condition: Next monthly meeting will be heldcon- Septr2 , 1949 .
