Deputy Supervisor Pierce requested Consultant, Bernard
Thoma to report on the progress of the Comprehensive Grant
Application through HUD.
Mr. Thoma reported that he has completed a survey
report on of the housing in the Blodgett Mills area. The housing
HUD application conditions are better than he had anticipated.
Mr. Thoma Also HUD has changed their procedure and rules. They
will be awarding more single purpose grants than in the
past. Based on that information, Mr. Thoma recommended
that we submit a single purpose application for economic
development loans.
Information was distributed to the Town Board regarding
businesses_ -- in the Town that have contacted him for
loans. Due to loss of jobs from Smith Corona and the closing
of Wilsons, this could be considered a high priority area.
A discussion was held whereby it was the consensus of
the Town Board to proceed with the intention of submitting
an single purpose application for economic development loans.
