HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-01-03 24 JANUARY 3 , 1949 The Regular monthly meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Dryden was held at the Town Clerks office on January . 3 , 1949 at 8 : P . M. Present were Supervisor Charles Downey , Wwy. Supt . Stacy. Beach and Justices Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , Alvord Baker , An Johnson and Dewey Whitford . Supervisor Downey presiding . . The minutes of the Dec . 4th . meeting were read for infor - mation and the minutes of the Dec . 30th . Annual audit meeting were read and approved ; Moved by Justice - Spaulding and seconded by Justice Cornelius: that the General bills totaling 4 591 . 40 be paid as audited . . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting YES . Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Whitford, that the Highway bills totaling 4 1 , 462 . 83 be paid as audited when money is available; .. Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices -YES:. Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Whitford that the Tompkins County Rural News be designated as the offical newspaper of the Town of Dryden . Carried and so ordered. Justice Spaulding nominated William B . Strong as Chairman of the Board of Assessors , seconded by Justice Johnson; There being no futher nominations , William B . Strong was duly appointed Chairman of the Board of Assessors ; Carried by a roll call Vote . All Justices voting YES; The Regular monthly meetings of the Town Board for the year 1949 will be held on the Third of each month or as ' near the 3rd ; as possible as agreed upon by the Board . Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Spaulding ; Meetings will be called. . at 7 : 30 P . M . during the winter months . Next meeting Feb . 3 , 1949 . The Supervisor re -appointed Justice Johnson and Justice Whitford as a standing Committee to audit all Highway bills for the year 1949 and Justice Cornelius and Justice Spaulding as a standing Committee to audit all General bills for the year 1949 . Justice Baker te vacancy on either Committee when necessary . Moved by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice Spaulding that Supervisor Downey be appointed as Delegate to the Annjual meeting of the Association of Towns held at New York on Feb . 16 - 19 , 1949 and that Lois ' H . Beck , Town Clerk be appointed as alternate!; Carried and so ordered; Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Johnson. that $ 9000 , insurance be put on the Stone Crusher , also that the rest of the Insurance on the Highway equipment be adjusted accord- ing to the Blue Book . Carried and so ordered . Justice Johnson au Justice Whitford was appointed as a Committee to the inspect the voting booths at Dist . # 5 and also I .. be authorized to order not in excess of seven more if found - advisable ; A report to be given at the next Board meeting ; Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Spaulding that the Salaries be set as accepted in the Budget . , Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting YES . Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Spauld- ing that the time of payment of the Officers salaries are as follows - - - Supervisor , Town Clerk , and Justices Spaulding . and Whit = ford; ist ; of each month , the balance of the Justices everym3 :: mons . * 1st . on the ist ; . of April ; Assessors - - ist on the 6th. mon , and the last on the 9th . month; Carried by a roll call vote .
