HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-05-03 T MAY' 3 , 1948 The Regular monthly meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Dryden; was held at the Town Clerks office on May' 3 , 1948 ; at_ 8 : 00 P . M . ' . Present were Charles G . Downey , Supervisor , , Hwy . Supt . Stacy Beach , and Justices Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , Alvordc Baker , ara Johnson and Dewey Whitford . Supervisor Downey presiding . Minutes of the April 5th meeting were read for information and the reconvened meeting on April 14th minutesarwere read - and approved as corrected . Mr John Newlon ; Dryden , N . Y . was present to request the Town Board to close road # 163 which is approximately aLmile between the Dryden- Mclean road and Route # 13 . bordering on the properties of Ed Little and John Newlon ; Moved by Justice Cornelius and seconded by Justice Spaulding- that , the property owners adjacent to road # 163 approximately . 1 mile between the Dryden- McLean Rd . and Route # 13 bordered on the South by. Little and Newlon and on the North by Newlow , with a petition to this Board , signed by the owners bordering that road , asking for the abandonment of said road , if and when it becomes a property of aa. i & Town ; . Carried and so ordered . APublic hearing to be held on June2nd Three bids on the 2 ton Pick - up Truck for the Hwy . Dept , having been received from Cayuga Motors , Ithaca , N . Y. ; College Chevrolet Co . Inc . Ithaca , N . Y . and Teeter Chevrolet Co . Dryden , N . Y . were opened and read . Teeter Chevrolet Co . submitted the lowest bid-. ; Moved by Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice Whitford that a Public Hearing be advertised , to be held onEune 2 , 1948 at 8 : 00 to hear persons for or against , spending in excess of $ 500 . 00 for a 2 ton Piuk -up Truck . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices Yes:. ' Communications were read from the State Traffic Commissiom concerning the request of the Town Board to have speed signs placed . at the Four corners at Etna , N . Y7 and from the Joint Legislative Committee on the Model Local Sanitation Code . Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Spaulding that Justice Johnson be appointed a Commitee of one to make arrang - ments for the purchase of approximately ten ( 10 ) acres of land bordered on th North by Dayton , West by Townley , East by Lineaugh Lane ,; South by Monroe at a purchase price of $ 75 . 00 . efoLooro.yAt Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes . Moved by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice Johnson that $ 182 . 62 be transferred fron the Contingent Funf to the Budget . Item Fire and Liability . Carried and so ordered . . Moved by Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice Cornelius that the General bills totaling$ \399 . 90 be paid as audited including the Post -Standard and Telephone bill . Carried by a roll call vote , All Justices voting Yes Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Whitford_ that _ the Highway bills totaling 1868 . 06 be paid as audited with verifications . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes . Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Johnson that the Warco grader and the Monarch roller be disposed of on re -, ceipt e�,^`�$�38Q . 00 cash . This being the highest bid received .
