HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-02-02 FEBRUARY 2 , L948 The Regular Monthly meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Dryden was held at the Town Clerks office on Feb . 2 , 1948 at 7 : 00 P . M . . Present were Supervisor Charles G . Downey , Hwy . Supt . Stacy Beach and Justices Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , Alvord . Baker , Ara Johnson and Dewey Whitford . Supervisor Downey, presiding . Minutes of the Dec . 30 , 1947 and Jan . 2 , 1948 were read for information . Justice Cornelius offered the following Resolution and moved its adoption . RESOLVED : that the Town Board of the Town of Dryden hereby requests the State Traffic Commission to restrict the speed at which vehicles may proceed , to 40 miles an hour on or along the following portion of the State highway NO . 79 , located in the Town of Dryden , Tompkins County , outside of any city or incorporated Village . to wit , All that portion of said Highway NO . 79 from the Town Line between the Town of Ithaca and the Town of Dryden easterly to what is known as Cook ' s Corner , • - Seconded , by Justice Johnson . Carried . A motion was made by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice Cornelius that Assessor Harold Clough be authorized to attend the Annual meeting of the Associations of Towns to beheld at Albany , N . Y . Feb . 18 , 19 , and 20th . 1948 . Carried and so ordered , A motion was made by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Baker that 1633 ; 68 remaining in the Welfare Fund be Transfer- ed th the General Fund and $ 208 , 72 remaining in the Health Fund also be transfered fbothe General Fund , to close these accounts- , Carried and so ordered . . A motion was madesoy Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Whitford that the Town Board of the Town of Dryden rent from - the Odd Fellows the front room on the First floor to be used aS a Town Clerks office for a period of one year at 15 , 00 a month , Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes . A motion was made by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Whitford that this Town Board is opposed to any change in the Method of electing its Town Officers . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes . A motion was made by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Baker that the Highway bills totaling 4 1648 ; 12 be paid as audited subject to certification . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes : A motion was made by Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice Cornelius that the General bills totaling, $ 100 , 15 Plus the Dryden Telephone service bill be paid as audited ; Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes . The Regular March meeting will be held on March 1 , 1948 at 7 : 00 P . M .
