The regular , monthly meeting or the Town Board of the Town of
Dryden was held at the Town Clerk Office on January 2 , 1948 •

at 8 : 00 P . M .
Present _ were :: Supervisor , Charles G . Downey , Highway Supt . Stacey
Beach , Justices ; Spaulding , Cornelius , Johnson and Whitford.
Supervisor Downey presiding .
A motion was made by Justice Spaulding and seconded b y Justice
Cornelius that Lois H . Beck , Town Clerk by appointed Registrar
of Vital Statistics ?:for the term ending December 31 ,. 1949 and_
Velma Blackman , Deputy Town Clerk , be appointed. as Deputy Registrar
for the tame term of • office ; Carried and so ordered .

A motion was made by Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice
.,., Whitford that the insurance be extended to increase coverage
from the present rate to the new approved rate . Carried and
so ordered .

A motion was made by Justice Cornelius and seconded by . Justice
Whitford that the Tompkins County Rural News by designated as
the official newspaper for the Town of ' Dryden . Carried and so
ordered . .
The regular monthly meetings for the year 1948 will be held on ,
the 3rd of each month unless the 3rd falls on a Sunday , then
the 2nd or 4th or such other date as agreeCupon by the members
of the board .
A motion was made by Justice Cornelius . and seconded by Justice
Spaulding to dispense with allocation of the interest on the,
McArthur , fund for the , year 1948 . Carried and so ordered .
Justice Johnson nominated Wm . B . Strong of Freeville • as chair-
man of the board of Assessors . Seconded by Justice Spaulding .

A motion was made by Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice
Cornelius that the following salaries: as contained in the
annual budget for 1948 be accepted as amended :

Spaulding that the time of payment of the town office salaries
remain the same as 1947 . Supervisor , Town Clerk , Justice Spaul - , '

Cornelius' that the general bills ' totaling $ 607 . 07 by paid •
as audited . Carried by roll call vote . All justices voting
Yes ;
A motion was made by Justice Cornelius and seconded by Justice '
Whitford ;that the highway bills totaling $ 1585 . 03 by paid as
audited . Carried by roll call vote . All justices voting Yes .
Supervisor Downey appointed Justice Spaulding and Justice Corn-
elius as 4 standing committee for the year 1948 to audit all
general . bills . Justice Johnson and Justice Whitford was the:.
standing committee for the year 1948 to audit all highway bills .
Justice Baker was appointed to fill a vacancy on either committee
whenever necessary ;
