M. . - Present were Supervisor Charles G. Downey and Justices. _ Orrie . Cornelius , Alvord Baker , Millard Hoagland and An Olohnson . Also present were the .Assessors- William B . Strong , Harold Clough and Ralph Dellow . Supervisor . Downey presiding . The minutes of the meeting held on May3 , 1947 were read for. information and the minutes of the Special meeting held on May 13th ; were read and approved . Supervisor Downey reported to the Board the progress made in the restoration of the Knapp .• Cemetery . Mr Leland Kirk of Etna , N . Y . was present to discuss with the Board the repair of the Ewers Road; A. motion was made by Justice Cornelius and seconded by . Justice Baker that the General bills totaling 0 174 ; 28 be paid as read.. Carried by a rollecall vote . All Justices voting- -Yes . A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Johnson that the Highway bills totaling $ 1303 . 17 be paid as read . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting - - Yes . Communications were read .. Justice Cornelius submitted to the Board an idea for an Annual or semi -annual " . Clean Up Week_ : ' for the Town of Dryden outside of the Two Incorporated Villages .; - a definite time of the year when all rubbish would be collected After a discussiomit was decided that with careful planning a program could be carried out that would be gratefully accepted and a great service to many people . of the Town: A motion was made by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice Hoagland that the Members - of the Board act as a committee on the arrangements for the " Clean Up _ " program :, Carried and so ordered. . A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Baker that the following list of " Inspectors of Election" as presented by the Committees be accepted and appointed for the Election year . L . Stanton A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Cornelius that the Varna ^<: •Mens Club be authorized to make the necessary repairs on the . Town Hall at Varna; The Town of Dryden to Furnish the materials needed . Carried and so ordered. A proposition for opening the old Ceek bed at Varna was presented to the Board: Supervisor Downey Appointed Justice Cornelius to make an investigation and report . The Assessors and the Members of the Board discussed the - many ways in which the Two groups could work in closer cooperation; to solve the common problem for the common good and interest of the:, Town The minutes of this meeting - were read and approved; Lois H . Downey , Hwy , Supt°, Stacy Beach and Justices C . Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , Alvord Baker , Millard Hoagland and An W . Johnson : Supervisor, Downey presiding . A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Johnson that the General bills totaling 185 ,33 be accepted as read . Carried by a roll call vote . . • A motion was made by Justice Bakera ' d and seconded by Justice JJobnsothat the Highway bills totaling 2602. 72 be paid as read ; Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes`: A motion- was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Baker that 4 . 80 be drawn from the Contingent Fund and transfered to the Tax Collectors office expense; Carried and so ordered , • Mr Ray Liddington of Dryden , N . Y . appeared before the Members of the- Board and ' explained the tenative. plans for the celebration of the 150th . anniversary of the Town of Dryden and asked for their support ; • A .motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Spaulding that the Town of Dryden allow the commitee to bill the Town for an amount not to exceed $ 300; 00 to The 1used for the celebration of the 150th. anniversary of the Town of Dryden; Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes , Justice Cornelius reported on the dredging of. the drainage ditch near the western boundry of the Carl James property and recommended that the Town take what ever steps can be done legally to remedy the situation: A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Johnson that Justice Cornelius ' s report be accepted; Carried and so ordered; A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Johnson that the Town of Dryden accept the proposal made by the County of Tompkins in regards to the Olmstead property': Carried by a roll call vote . Cornelius - -Yes , Hoagland- Yes , Baker - - Yes , Johnson- - Yes , Spaulding- - Not - voting ; Mr Harold Little and Mr Emmett Fox of Dryden , N . Y . Directors of Neptune Hose Co' No . I appeared before the Board to discuss with the Members the organization of a Fire Co' . in McLean , N . Y . A motion was made by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice Cornelius that the Board beleives the people living in that portion of the Town of Dryden effected by this change in Fire protection should do as they so desire . • The minutes of this meeting were read and approved, Justice Johnson moved that the meeting be adjourned , seconded by Justice Hoagland ; _ - Lois H .
