HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-05-07 1 63 The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of_ Dryden was held at the Town Clerks Office on May 7 , 1946 at 8 : 00P . M . Present were Supervisor Charles G . Downey , HW ' y . Supt . Stacey Beach , Welfare Officer Edna Nicely and Justices Cornelius , Baker , Hoagland and Johnson . Supervisor Downey Presiding The Minutes of the last Meeting were read for information . A letter from the Association of Towns was read , giving information about the Welfare School to be held at Geneva , N . Y . on June 16th . thru 19th . After a discussion on this matter it was tabled until the next meeting . . A motion was made by' Justice Cornelius and seconded. by Justice Hoagland that the Welfare bills be paid as read . Carried by a Roll Call ✓ ote . . . All Justices voting Yes ; Mr Harold Clough of Varna was present to explain the purchase of I2 Assessors Field Books from the Cayuga Press Inc . . Ithaca , _ N . Y . A motion was made by Justice Cornelius and seconded by Justice Baker that the bill of $,n48 . 00 from Cayuga Press be paid° Carried by a Roll Call Vote' ; . All Justices voting Yes` . A motion was made by Justice Cornelius and seconded by Justice i! Hoagland that 60 : 00 be transfered from the Contingent Fund to the Assessors Office Expense Account : Carried and so ordered ; A group of people with Mr Niemi as spokesman was present to discuss with the Boaed the availability of the West Dryden Church to h old Church Services'. The Town Board explained that the Church at Weat Dryden may be used by any Organization in that ' Cummunity , Church Services: in the Church Proper and Socials and the like in the Romms donnstairs; A motion was made by Justice Hoagland ans seconded by Justice Baker that the General Bills totaling 643 : 03 be paid as read . Carried by a Roll Call Vote; All Justices voting Yes Donald L . herrington and a group of Residents from the Hunt Hill Section of the Town were present to discuss with the Board the matter of c:• Road repair in that section:° A motion was made By Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice J ohnson that the Highway bills totaling I078 ; 65 be paid as read; Carried by a Roll Call Voter; All aastices voting - - - - - -Yes ; A latter from Donald T . Urquart , George Junior Republic , Freevill N . Y . was read: This letter asked that the people of the Town of Dryden and Freeville discontinue the practice of dumping 'rubbisirion { the Republic ' Property . After a . discussion a motion was made by Justice Hoagland and /7—seconded b Justice Baker that the Hwty ; Suptc. be given permission to 1 cause the road from Lina Lane to the Willow Glen- -Freeville Road to be AvAbandone d; - i Supervisor Downey reported that the Historical old Cemetery on Gee Hill was without a fence around it A motion was made by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice Hoagland that the Hw ' y ; Supt ; be instructed; yo put a fence around this Cemetery. Carried and so ordered ; Supervisor Downey instructed the Justice of Peace to contact the Chairmen of each Political Party from their District so that : : the Inspectors of Election can be appointed at the next meeting ; A motion was made by Justice Jihnson and seconded by Justice Cornelius that the Board procure badges for the Three Constables; Carried and so ordered ; Supervisor Downey appointed Justice Hoagland as a Comm ; . of one to obtain information about this matter and purchase the Badges; . A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Johnson to table the request from the residents of Hurd Hill Section-. until the Hw ' y; Supt can report on this matter at the next meeting; Carried and so ordered.
