M . The minutes of the last meeting - were read for information . The vacancy for assessor was presented and ' discussed and the name of N . M . Rowley was submitted for that position and as no other applications had b-eerr aubmitt ft a motion was made by Spaulding that_ the clerk cast one • ballott for N. M: '"owley as assessor to fill the vacancy_ causedeby the death_ of Ralph Dedrick , seconded by Hoagland and carried - b_y_ .a_ .unamlous roll call vote . Ballot cast and and N . M . Rowley declared appointed . The chairman reported that the dv, ?remn1 . had approached him about the purchase by the town- of the West Dryden: chur.ch-. _ _ T.hi_s_ mat.ter was discussed and tabled untill ape future meeting to enable the board to inspect the • church and learn it s condition; __ _ . . The Supt . of Highways gave an estimate as provided by Moran and Uleason for a surface treatment on the Snyder Hill road . Tabled untill next -meeting . A resolution ( which is on file ) was offered by Beck for granting a Fran - . chise to the grey Hound Bus Line , seconded by ' ornellus and carried by . a una - mi; us roll_ call vote . It wasdesided . that the board meet at the town clerks office on • April 3 at 8 -30 A . M . for annuall spring road tour and first of month meeting . . County Supt . ?pert Vann was present , Road improvement for I944 was discussed and agreement papers sighned . Highway bills totalling $ 560 . 38 was read and a motion was made by ckc to pay as read , seconded by ,aker and carried by a roll call vote . . general bills read and a motion was mde by Baker seconded. by G-ornelius= to pay as read , carried by a roll call vote . . A discussion. on the purchase of the West Dryden . church , took place and a motion was made by , Laker to empower the Supv. to purchase the church , price not to exceed , 250 . 00 ; If the price proved more than 4250,00 it should be brought before the board for consi derationi seconded by gornelius and carried by a roil call vote . elfare officer gave a report on the Olmstead house . The clerk ask the board if she should continue making a charge on a transcript of marriag to our service men . and a rnotionwas made by ornelius t :at no chagge be made to a service men for this service , seconded by Spaulding and carried by • a roll call rote . Premu and had pur - chased the West Dryden Ch urcthproperty for the town of Dryden , for the price of $ 100 ..00 . The purchase tp cover suchkg4NAN4AX furnishings except what had been loaned to the Church and the loaner wished returned . Mr . Pre= to make all arrangements tp complete the transaction., Church to be paid for upon reciept of the deed . . • Supv , reported that he had paid off the last certificate of indebtedness on the voting . machines . . Cornelius moved to reduce the insurance policy on the new buipding to $ 1500 , 00 seconded by Baker and carried by a unanulous roll call vote , each reported on a road roller which '& 1-an and Gleason had for sale and the " matter was tabled untill mext meeting. . A motion was made by Cornelius that the welfare officer - keep a complete account of the Olstead case , including the transfer of the property ands all transactions , including a case history and Audits of Debits and credit Seconded by Baker . and carried Upon motion meeting was adjourned . . The board requested the clerk to inform: the welfare ' .officer that she is requested to make a complete accounting of the cost and income of the Olmstead case . was read An invitation/from the Dryden: ire Dept , extending an invitation to the town board to attend a party at their hall to witness the burning of the mortgage on the Fire equipment . It was suggested that another fire warden2be appointed in the town to be in the Snyder Hill section . This was tabled untill some inquiries could be made in regards to who should make the appointment . The board or Fire CO . Downey as a committee gave a report inregards to the transactionof the purchase of the West Dryden church. and a letter was read from William' Bamptonv1nviting the Supv . to attend a meeting at the church on Sunday May7 , It was left to the Supv . tc continue in his capacity as committee on thi 's project , .
