General bills read and discussed and approved , A motion was made by Hoagland to pay as read , seconded by Cornelius and carried by a roll call • Vote . The Highway bills read and Cornelius moved thap all ,; bills2which had been - properly &ett-iled be paid , seconded by Beck and carried by a roll call vote . . The clerk reported that the safe comination. had never been in proper working conditionrsince it was moved into her office and ask if the board wished to do any thing about it . A mott•onn was made by Hoagland to have ' this put into good condition , seconded by Beck and carried . The vacaancy in the ''oard of. Assessors caused by the death of Ralph, Dedrick was discussed but due to not having a full board this matter was tabled until the next meeting , . Ic Cornelius told of a bad/ eoniition of the quarry hill road leading to Snyder Hill , The board advised the clerk to notify the Supt . Of Highways regarding thi r conditio n . The matter of installing offices in the Olmstead House was discusses and:° it was decided to hold this idea over for a future meeting;. The dates of Third and 14 of each Month was definately settled as dates for board meetings , • Minutes were read and approved . M . The minutes of the last meeting - were read for information . The vacancy for assessor was presented and ' discussed and the name of N . M . Rowley was submitted for that position and as no other applications had b-eerr aubmitt ft a motion was made by Spaulding that_ the clerk cast one • ballott for N. M: '"owley as assessor to fill the vacancy_ causedeby the death_ of Ralph Dedrick , seconded by Hoagland and carried - b_y_ .a_ .unamlous roll call vote . Ballot cast and and N . M . Rowley declared appointed . The chairman reported that the dv, ?remn1 . had approached him about the purchase by the town- of the West Dryden: chur.ch-. _ _ T.hi_s_ mat.ter was discussed and tabled untill ape future meeting to enable the board to inspect the • church and learn it s condition; __ _ . . The Supt . of Highways gave an estimate as provided by Moran and Uleason for a surface treatment on the Snyder Hill road . Tabled untill next -meeting . A resolution ( which is on file ) was offered by Beck for granting a Fran - . chise to the grey Hound Bus Line , seconded by ' ornellus and carried by . a una - mi; us roll_ call vote . It wasdesided . that the board meet at the town clerks office on • April 3 at 8 -30 A . M . for annuall spring road tour and first of month meeting . . All justices present except Hoagland who attended the buisness meeting only . At 2/30 PM the regular meeting was called to „ order by chairman Downey,. minutes of last meeting read . . County Supt . ?pert Vann was present , Road improvement for I944 was discussed and agreement papers sighned . Highway bills totalling $ 560 . 38 was read and a motion was made by ckc to pay as read , seconded by ,aker and carried by a roll call vote . . general bills read and a motion was mde by Baker seconded. by G-ornelius= to pay as read , carried by a roll call vote . . A discussion. on the purchase of the West Dryden . church , took place and a motion was made by , Laker to empower the Supv. to purchase the church , price not to exceed , 250 . 00 ; If the price proved more than 4250,00 it should be brought before the board for consi derationi seconded by gornelius and carried by a roil call vote . elfare officer gave a report on the Olmstead house . The clerk ask the board if she should continue making a charge on a transcript of marriag to our service men . and a rnotionwas made by ornelius t :at no chagge be made to a service men for this service , seconded by Spaulding and carried by • a roll call rote . The minutes of the meeting were read and approved . . .
