Sweetland ptesiding . The minutes of last meeting read and approved . . of theThewqueetion of reemploying Attorney fearon , to continue in behalf of the town oft Dryden , as per resolution of Nov . 1 1941, was discussed. and a motion was made- --by,`ker seconded by Beck to continue with his services . roll call vote all yes . . Highway and monthly bills read and a motion by Beck to pay as read was seconded by Spaulding and carried by a roll call . vote . The Supt . of highways was instructed to pay Clapp Machinery Co . $ 650 . 00 as per contract . 4 t . Stewart Williams was present asking the board for advice in the matter of getting a special act of Legislature through to establish a 1 - 233 & 5 per cent rate on taxes ( State & County ) . 'his being the only proceedure w where - by such a rate could be - allowed under the new budget system. Mr Gillian explained that if this could be accomplished it would be less hardship do taxr. payers and also a benefit to the town . A motion was: made by Baker that the town clerk and boll . be empowered to ,write to Stanley Shaw requesting that he present to the Legislatature and seek such an enactment of a special law concerning Fee ' s and penalties on the collection of taxes and try to have it effective for 1953 . seconded by Spaulding and carried by a rol L call vote . • Oelfare statement and bills rea d as follows ; Shelter $ 24 . 00 ' Milk 238 • Total $ 25 . 38 State Aid40% - 10 . 15 . Cast to the town 15. 23 1 . A motion- was made by S ; aulding to pay as read seconded by Cornelius and carried by a roll call vote . . . The following names were submitted for dog enumerators for 1943 , . Tommy Morton, . Mable Lormor , tee Sickman , and ' Lester Glass . A vote by ballot resulted in a tie between Morton GlasQ and Sickman, The second vote results were Morton 3 - Sickman 3 Glass 4 . ±hird vote resulted in the appointment of Glass and Morton; It was agreed if one Sf • them could not accept Lee Sickman be appointed for the vacancy . . A motion was mabde by Vornelius to transfer 4500 . 00 beverage Tax money from general fund to Highway Item 3 seconded by Spaulding and carried by a ' roll call vote . all yes but Supv who offered a c.ohtrarlw. voye . The following monies was paid over to the Supv . by Spaulding covering criminal costs on cases discontinued by complaintant and paid by complaintant Attorney . . Supv . as chairman . The minutes= of last meeting read and approved . The ' clerk also read a copy of the letter which had been sent to Stanley Shawr as per vote of last board meeting . Bill read from Coles Hardware and Nicely Mileage , and Driscoll also one from Gridley &Son . A motion was made by Spaulding to pay as read seconded Cornelius and carried by aroll call vote . The time of payments of salaries of town officals was discussed and a motion was made by Spaulding to pay all salaries the First of each mo . . �: except Supt . of highways who requested two monthly payments , 1st & 16 ; ' a and the Coll . of Taxes ( which would be settled later ) was seconded by Cornelius and -carried by a roll call vote all yes . ' l Mrs Hines speaking for Sweetland declared her books were - cleSei 'and no payment could be made at thistime . . ; The board adjourned at noon: to attend the funeral of: James 0 . Robertso a _ former Justice . At 3 - 15 the board° preceded to complete - the accounting after which a short buianess session was held with Supv. Sweetland as chairman . K motion was made by Beck to transfer # 1500 . 00 from general fund to Highway Item 3 . secondc by Baker andcarried by a roll call vote . Baker moved to nominate Charles: Downey der the appointment as justice of peace for the unexpired term of the late John Munsey , seconded by ornelius Beck offered the nomination of Ralph Space and Spaulding nominated Howard Welch ti that office . Cornelius - moved that nominations be closed seconded by Spauldingand carried by an aye vote . A vote by ballott was taken with Downey recieving 2 Space Iand Spaulding I Downey declared appointed . A mot&on was made by " Cerneliusc. to reappoint Edna Nicely: as welfare @ffieer for 1943 seconded by Baker and carried by a roll._ call vote . Upon motion meetind adjourned . L .
