The town. board meet at the office of the town_ clerk , for regular
- meeting , with all justices , welfare officer and Supt . of highways pre-sent
�upv . as chairman . present , .
The minutes of last two meetings were read send approved , after kHsuggestioi
by Beck that Randall Smith be stated as being a democrat , with his appointment
as inspector of Elections .
Welfare bills and statements read as follows :

A motion was made by Spaulding- , seconded by Beck to pay as read: was
carried by a roll call vote . Welfare officer paid to Supv . 43 . 00 beineh.s. the
amount of a payment on Reed bill .
The general and highway bills read and a motion was made by Cornelius ,
seconded by Baker to pay as read , carried by a roll call vote .
Baker suggested that Mar Sweetland contact Lawyer Newman and make . arrange -
ments to have meet with theboard as near the middle of the mo . as convenient tc
Newman to discuss the budget for I943 under the new law , some to be regular mid-
month- meeting . .
£. '- R . A . McKinne/ was present and explained the set - up for civilian defense
stating that E . R . Sweetland as Din . of the town and William Strong Mayor of
the village of Freeville , had expressed the desthre , to have him appointed to -.1
supervise this work as represent ive of the township and Freeville village ,
with the approval of the town board . Martin Beck moved to appoint McKinney .
to that position , seconded by Baker and carried by a roll call vote . •
McKinney stated that there would be no charge for his services in this >
workbut as there would be some expense envolved , such as black- out lights,
telephone calls& etc . possiabie 4I50 . 00 would be needed , untill the new budget
would be set -up .
A - motion- was made by Munsey to pay monthly after the first of mo . meeting
any bills encurred through this defense programe , as voted on by the town board .
Motion was seconded by Cornelius and carried by a roll call... vote ...

Attorney Chas Newman was present and explained the laws connected with thi
newTown- Budget system . There was no charge by 'Mr Newman for this service ,
whichias , very helpful .to the board and other tow n officals present , which
enclad dUVo members from the board of aasessops and tax c_olle.ctor._ _ .

The clerk informed the board that she had been served with a summons ,
with A ? J . Hines plantiff again starting; a case against the town of' • Dryde
the former case having been called of by Mr Hines .
A motion was made by Spaulding td engage Leuie:: Thaler , to defend the tow
of Dryden seconded: by Cornelius , roll call vote Cornelius yes , Baker yes ,
Spaulding yes, Beck no . Carried .

Baker reported concerning the purchase of material for the proposed
new town bullding , ,from the G . L . F . at a considerable saving if taken right
away , and moved that Glazier be empowered to purchase the lumber and material
according to his specifications , and to have Mr glazier bring in his prints ,
