Riparian Areas had the "biggest bang for the buck," Topographic Index - indicates hydrologically sensitive areas_ A discussion followed with the following questions posed by the B; + What do we want to protect with the buffer? W 1� • How many variables for site specific recommendations? This discussion led into a strategy of reexaming the basic goals and intentions of a riparian buffer law or other management options. It was determined that it may be best to examine the basic premise of the law as a group in the context of the Open Space Plan, or otherwise and form a policy founda- tion for the law or other tools developed. 4. Open Space Planning The upcoming Open Space Plan was discussed with the following bullet points: • Viewsheds • Cemetaries - other historic sites and resources • Overarching Plan • Measurable • Guide what OS is important to the Town, versus other organizations (land trust, state etc.) 7. Announcements Bob announced that the orchids are blooming in Malloryville and he will be taking people out June 6th, around 9am. Pugc 2
