Announcements
Dan briefly announced updates on:
Parke Dabes properly in Varna - has started collecting background information and doing some basic
fieldwork in preparation for strategic management plan for the property.
Criteria for Land Donation - Still needed.
DR1 - Need history of land, and management objectives for both management planning, as well as
adjusting the boundary of the +tetland and updating DEC maps.
Verizon Wireless Tower -There is a tower proposed by Verizon for the wooded property on the corner of
Hanshaw and Sapsucker Woods (toads. Conservation Board input may be sought.
Presentation
Rosy Johnston presented a proposed Gower Cayuga Lake Monitoring Plan. There was a great deal of
discussion surrounding the details of the lake, and what the reality of restoration of the waterbody is.
The gist of the plan is to coordinate monitoring efforts between the Ithaca Area Wastewater Treatment
Plant, Cayuga Heights Sewer Plant, and Cornell's Lake Cooling Project. The discussion varied tiom the
true nature of the foodweb, to the monitoring standards that are similar, and the hydrodynamics of the
lake.
The plan is being prepared by the Tompkins County Water Resources Council.
