Charles Smith, Steve Bisscn, and Tim Woods iWembers Excused: Craig Schutt, Bard Prentiss Others Present: Dan Kwasnowski, Environmental Planner and Conservation Board Coordinator, Mary Ann Sumner, Joy Foster, Recording Secretory. The meeting ►vas called to order at 7 :37 pin. Dan & Joy, attendance Stan: Report on F'MC meeting, at meeting they had a PowerPoint on Global l-Varming, by Christina Yoder. Would lilu; to have someone come and do a presenlation fi r• us. Maybe have a talk on Ethanol? Dan: Talks crhotrt future topics and discussions. Ethanol & Canola & Bio- Diesel. Talks on crops that are specific to Dryden with the soils that are here and the crops that are already grown and how compatible it is and how it could help farmers. Dan - next topic, Lisa Stidde and Steven, run the Lew -lain fawn. Debate over Ethanol, if corn goes up ® high how will it a feet dairy farmers? Will they have to grow their own or brine it in? Dan — agenda, Go over the open -space inventory and point ottt some of the thinks that are in there and things that should be updated and go thrit the actual state law that governs what should be in there. At the last town board meeting the board authorized the supervisor to sign state contracts with Agri& Markets. Dan explains what the State floes. Dan- Lew -Lin Farms, ,•rand total is 417.5 acres grant award is $ 703, 000.00. Dan- talks about how the farvns come to him, we have a f iriner s protection plan and a comprehensive plan that goes to great length to detail how the tot-tin can, fund its own. Now we are getting State funding to do the program and we have been dieing very well. Dan- The way we come up with these farms is the .Mate Really wants to see a chain of inherence-v., they want to see that the faun will keep going. The County level has to .support the application ►with a letter that supports it. Cornell works with Cooperation Extension to come tip with candidates and Co. Planning has come up with an application form. So that's how we get the candidates. Dan- next application is the .Sherman faun called the Gerry -Dell organic farm. Organic Dairy and crop growers.
