Office — REVISED 7/15/2003 (at Dryden School District Office downstairs conf. Coord Jennifer Glaab Guests: Lisa Stelick (note taker); Russ Kowalski, President of Dryden Lions Athletic Club Meeting began at approx. 7:40am. Lisa Stclick took notes for this meeting. I. 6/5 & 6/16 minutes are tabled awaiting quorum of DRC members for vote 2. DRC Fundraising: Discussion ensued regarding whether or not DRC can fundraise, open their own banking account, etc. Steve believes, basal on recollection of discussions with the Town attorney, that the DRC should probably not have their name attached for fundraising as the DRC is an arm of the Town government and the Town's cannot fundraise. However, this does not prevent DRC members as individuals to join groups/causes such as DLAC, Friends of Dryden Wrestling, etc. and fundraise. Bill & Many plan to attend the next Town Board meeting to ask for clarification, 3. Recreation Coordinator Report: • A) Howie Frisco from Dryden won the local, sectional, and team championship levels of the Pepsi Pitch- Hit -Run. The Team level awarded him a plaque and a guest at the NY Yankees vs. Cardinals baseball game in Yankee Stadium. Jcn shared pictures of Howie receiving his plaque and seeing his name up on the billboard during the Yankee game. • B) Music -In- The -Purk Concert series is going well. First concert drew approx. 150 folks, 2 "d concert drew approx. 200+ guests. Two more concerts are scheduled in July and two in August. 7116 -Swamp Cats- swing /roch&roll; 7130 -Steve Southw»rtlr c& The Rockabilly Rays -SD's c& 60's; 8 /20 -7Tnk Bennett & Tailar Mademnowary; and 8127 -Rubin Everidge & The Sanantones- light rocklcountry. The DLAC continues to sell concessions as a fundraiser for the gym & outdoor concession stand projects and Sertoma will be providing an ice cream social at a couple of concerts. The grange donated ice cream cones left over from Dairy Day to Scrioma. Also, a port -a -potty has been rented for the remaining concerts. • C) Boat Rentals— just about ready to go. Decided to (case vs. original plan (still with Cayuga Boat Rentals). $1,000 lease to include boats, paddles, life jackets, dock, shed. Awaiting lease contract to be signed, Khristy Gallarni has been hired to work the rentals. Jen passed out brochures she made regarding the rentals. Hours of operation have been changed since we have missed a portion of the season. Now: Wed. -Sun., 10am -6pm. Sl0/hour. • D) i" Dryden (under 12) Baseball Tournament is set to run 8/4- 8/10/U3. Dave Hicks is coordinating this effort, • F.) Dryden Holiday scheduled for 8/9 is cancelled. Instead Jcn has joined the effort for "Dryden Old Home Days" being organized • by Town Historian Elsie Gutchess set for Fri. 8/1 through Sun. 8/3. Same types of events Jen had thought of. Jcn will help with planning, judges, prizes, etc.. The Old Home Day events end at 5pm each day — Jcn is planning events for the evening such as bands, etc. Jen is also hoping to coordinate hay rides, boat rentals, golf tournament, etc. The SK run she intended to have at the Dryden Holiday may be done later in August. She needs someone to step forward to coordinate the 5K run. • F) This year Sertoma & Kiwanis have asked for her help with registration, scheduling, clinics. Dryden Soccer Club has also asked her help with the winter league for liability insurance and advertising. Rec. Dept. Fee will come from a portion of the registrations. • G) Wall Street Ballfield — Kiwanis will donate 5300 plus man power this year. They will plan for more in the budget for next year. This summer the Youth Conservation Corp. will do the base cut -outs, fill -in low areas, and make player benches. Dave Hicks will supervise the cut -out project. The Youth Conservation Corp. needs more work for these kids this summer. if you have any ideas, contact Jen. • H) $86 raised in airplane toss during the Dairy Day Parade — Jen asked permission to use this money for ballfield needs. Approved by all in attendance. • 1) Montgomery Park — Village told Jen they didn't budget any money this year — Town Supervisor iNlark V. mentioned to Jen and Steve that the Town could replace the light bulbs in the basketball /tennis court (if they arc replaceable). Regular maintenance/upkecp needs to be done (i.e. emptying garbage weekly, weeding, etc.) 4. Russ Kowalski gave a status report on the gym spruce -up. • Paw Prints — 32 sold so far ($520 raised) — working on plaque for sponsors of paw prints • "Total $1931 raised so far for project between donations & fundraisers • $ 1056 check cut for mat covering • reported the current status of the fundraising as of this meeting: • He just mailed out letter w/ brochure & paw print order form to 42 businesses (mostly sponsors of the Dryden sports seasonal books) • Prep day for painting: Sunday, 7/13/03 Q gam • Painting Day: Sat., 7/19/03 a gam (if don't complete on Sat., then plan to start up again Sun., 7120/03) • Plan to dedicate the gym at the I" home boys basketball game winter season 2003 -04 • Outdoor Concession Stand: Mike Aiken is working on pricing "rough" roof, 4 walls, cement slab, electric/watcr lines. Hope to have quotes at the next DLAC meeting. • Fundraising for Concession Stand: Golf Tournament on 8/16/2003 at Dryden Lakeview Course. Need donations & players. • Lisa suggested more help is needed from school coacheshcams to support fundraising (manpowcOdcas, etc.). 5.
