HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-09-11Dryden Recreation Commission September 11, 2000 -- Meeting Minutes Present: The meeting was held at Viking Lanes. Mike Almendinger, Tom Hatfield, Bill Finnerty, Stewart Gray, Steve Stellick, Bob Slocum, Alice Green, Steve Woodard, ande Carroll. In addition, also present was Jeannine Bennett, Darden High Girls Head ,Soccer Coach. Mike Almendinger called the meeting to order. The minutes were distributed and amended from the meeting of August 21 _ OLD BUSINESS Brochure. We distributed a brochure mockup with a layout of the recreation activity listings contained in the Dryden Recreation Commission's database. He asked for input from all with ideas for improvement if needed, and also asked for continued addition of new activities and groups people were aware of that aren't yet included in the 0 database. Web Bite. It was confirmed that the web site domain would be DRYDENRt= , QM which had been briefly discussed at the previous meeting. Costs were discussed, $70, domain one -time registration fee, $35. domain name annual fee; $10 per month Lightlink,ccm hosting fee. The web site will contain the information that the brochure does, but in addition will include a description of the activity. "Yellow Card" System. Steve will locate a copy of the Yellow Card System cards discussed at the last meeting and get them to Stewart to revise for local use, Alice said she would also like copies. NEW BUSINESS Guest: Jeannine Bennett. Steve Woodard introduced Jeannine Bennett who gave an overview of the Dryden Gfris Soccer programs_ She described the programs' size, characteristics and goals; and mentioned their Spaghetti dinner planned for Friday, October 10, the JV's winter clothing drive, and their volunteer coaching activities through the NSCNAA. She also discussed the positive results of combining the boys and girls soccer programs in regard to clothing and equipment purchases. She reviewed their soccer camp programs, dates and costs for youth at different age levels. . Facilities Committee. Bob reported that there had been an initial meeting of the Facilities Committee a week ago that included Bob, Doug Hoyt and Ralph Shortell. And another meeting was set for Oct 18 at 5:30. They discussed community access for TC3 facilities such as the fitness center, pool, squash and tennis courts. Steve mentioned that there was a school facilities brochure in the works that would include calendar of regularly scheduled events and hours when facilities would sometimes be available. The purpose of the brochure is to help ease scheduling burdens. Bob asked if there could be more of a presence of next week's facilities meeting. Dryden Recreation Commission Charter. Stewart asked the group about the Commission's Charter. Tom said that he would get that information out. He said that it's typically distributed each January. Next Meeting Date September 25, The Dryden Recreation Commission will continue to meet at Viking Lanes, Mondays 8:00 am - 9:00, September 25, October 16 and 30, Nov. 13 and 27 and Dec. 11.
