PART 3: Community Work Days
The Town of Ithaca provides no labor or upkeep of the Garden beyond providing compost, tools, and
water. We are responsible for mowing, covering unused plots, maintaining the fence, and all other
Garden upkeep. Therefore, all gardeners are required to work a minimum of 2 hours each month
during scheduled Community Work Days (posted by mid-April) and you may be asked to do tasks
other days as needed. There are jobs for all Gardeners regardless of your skills or physical ability.
PART4: Rules and Code of Conduct
The following rules and code of conduct apply to every Gardener and their guests. The penalty for not
abiding by them may be the IMMEDIATE LOSS OF YOUR GARDEN PLOTS.
Conduct: I understand and agree:
1. Pets are not allowed inside the Garden fence under any circumstances. (Includes support pets)
2. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the Garden.
3. No smoking is allowed in the Garden or within 25 feet of the fenced perimeter.
4. The Garden community does not tolerate verbal or physical behavior that is aggressive,
intimidating, threatening, harassing, or violent in any way.

6. I am responsible for the behavior of my guest(s).
Rules: I understand and agree:
1. Only organic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and fungicides are permitted.

Garden Council.)
3. All plots must be maintained throughout the season. If I am unable to do this for more than 2
weeks due to illness, injury or vacation, I will notify the Garden Council as soon as possible.
4. Perennial plants should be planted in primary plot only. Additional plots may not be available in
future years if plots are needed for new gardeners. Any perennials planted will be lost.
5. Plant only within your plot(s). If plantings spill over to another plot or pathway, that part of the
plant and its produce are now owned by that gardener and can be harvested and/or removed.

1. I will keep my plot(s) and surrounding path(s) clear of weeds, tools, and obstructions.
2. I will take care of the tools and supplies available for use in the shed. These items must be
returned to the shed when not in use, so they are available for others. I will remove any excess
dirt to always keep tools in good working order.
3. I must fulfill a work commitment of 2 hours per month during the active gardening season,
coordinated through the Garden Council.
4. At the end of the season, I must clear all plantings (other than overwintering or perennials),
