Re: Maplewood Phase 2, Maple Avenue Corridor and Sanitary Sewer Improvements
Dear Mr. Slater,
In advance of the Town Public Works Committee (PWC) meeting on February 25th, we are
submitting the referenced attachments that depict infrastructure improvements or modifications
of existing facilities that are being proposed for dedication to the Town of Ithaca.
Here is a brief description of the Maple Avenue corridor improvements and Sanitary Sewer Main
Modification:
Maple Avenue Trail
1. Replace existing concrete walk with a 6-foot wide asphalt pavement section along the
frontage of the Maplewood 1 development between Veterans Place and the west
boundary of the Maplewood 2 parcel.
2. Construct an 8-foot asphalt pavement section from the east boundary of Maplewood 1 to
a point opposite the trailhead of the East Hill Recreation Way. The trail will cross the
Maplewood 2 parcel as well as the City of Ithaca water tank parcel.
3. Install twelve pedestrian light poles, fixtures and buried circuitry adjacent to the trail
across the frontage of the Maplewood 2 and City parcels. Poles will be sixteen feet tall.
Illumination and LED light color are consistent with the Town’s 2023 streetlights policy.
Fixtures will include remote monitoring and control devices.
4. Install rapid flashing beacon assemblies on both the north and south sides of Maple
Avenue for the trail crosswalk. These assemblies will also include light fixtures to
properly illuminate the crosswalk.
5. Construct trailhead parallel parking space sufficient for five vehicles along the north side
of Maple Avenue.
6. Provide crosswalk pavement striping, signage and detectable warning mats as required
by applicable regulations.
Maple Avenue Pavement Widening
7. Expand the street pavement width by 2+ feet across the frontage of proposed Building A
to facilitate the aerial fire apparatus access needed for Building A. The widening will
include replacing the existing granite curb.
Sanitary Sewer Main Modification
8. Remove and replace approximately 60 feet of existing 8-inch sewer main within the
Town easement to adjust only the main profile. The horizontal alignment will remain the
same.
item #3
T.G. Miller, P.C. 2
We expect there will be another round of Town Engineering comments and plan edits prior to
being construction ready, but we believe the attached documents are complete for PWC
consideration. Assuming PWC could make a recommendation to the Town Board, scheduling
Town Board approval of ‘concept and location’ on March 10th would be appreciated.
Looking forward to discussing these improvements and modifications with the Committee.
Please call if you have any questions or need additional information.
Respectfully,
David A. Herrick, P.E.

EPA: 0.67 ft2 Weight: 32.8 lbs / 14.9 kg
Base module: Cast A356 round aluminum shape. Complete with removable door module, equipped with
a tool-free opening system, that provides a tight compression when closed. This allows access to the block
connector and driver module. The pole-top fitter is self-leveling and retained using set screws. Fits on a
4” (10cm) outside diameter x 3” (7cm) long tenon.
Frame module: Four (4) cast aluminum A356 arms are welded to the base module. A cast aluminum ring is
welded to the upper end of the arms to support the optical module.
Roof module: The roof module is capped with a A356 cast aluminum decorative dome and is mechanically
assembled to the top of the ring.
Optical module: The molded A384.0-F aluminum heat sink is designed to minimize the temperature of the
LEDs, increasing their longevity and efficiency. The high efficiency Orion LED optical engine is mechanically
assembled on the heat sink. The optical lenses are cured directly on the LED board and offer an IP66 ingress
protection rating. The lifetime of the LEDs is 100,000 hours. It is based on the LM-80 test and extrapolated
with TM-21. This data is calculated when 50% of the LEDs produce 70% of their initial luminous flux (L70).
The minimum color rendering index (CRI) is 70. The optical lenses are made of acrylic and designed to
illuminate only where needed while achieving excellent uniformity with maximum spacing. Produce 0%
uplight. The combination of two distribution types (backward optics) is also available in the same optical
module. Tempered clear (FCG) or frosted (FGF) flat glass lenses are attached to a cast aluminum frame.
With the No Lens (NL) option, a white decorative acrylic protection plate is mechanically assembled under the
optical module. The available light distribution types are T1, T1A, T1AHS, T2, T2HS, T2M, T2MHS, T3, T3HS,
T3M, T3MHS, T4, T4HS, T5. The crosswalk optic (TCW) for pedestrian crossing is also available.
Driver module: Class 1 (P70 and P80) or Class 2 (P10 to P60). Primary tension is of 120 to 480VAC Volts,
50/60Hz, THD max 20% with a high-power factor of 90%. Operating temperature is -40°F (-40°C) to 113°F
(45°C). The regulator offers an output of 0-10 Volts and is ROHS compliant. Assembled with pull-out
connectors. Complete with 10kV/5kA or 20kV/10kA tripolar surge protection for live-MALT, live-neutral and
neutral-MALT lines according to IEEE/ANSI C62.41 2002 C.
Wiring / Hardware: Type TEWT 14-7 AWG, 12” (30.5cm) minimum exceeding luminaire. All electrical
connections between the modules are provided with quick-disconnect connectors for easy maintenance. All
outside accessible hardware is made of 304 stainless steel.
Color: All Cyclone colors are available in textured (TX) or smooth (SM) finish. A durable polyester powder
coating is applied and meets the AAMA 2604 requirements (5 years exposure to all weather conditions).
The finish meets the ASTM G7, B117, D1654 and D2247 requirements relative to salt spray and humidity
resistance. Cyclone recommends a textured finish for this product.
Warranty: 5-year limited warranty. Complete warranty terms located at:

– EPAs values calculated following AASHTO 2013 Standard.
– EPA ratings refer to POST TOP applications only. For other configurations consult factory.– EPA ratings for aluminium poles do not include added EPA strength modifying treatments. For added T6-Heat treated aluminium pole results consult factory.
* Do not erect pole without the intended loading attached to avoid wind-induced vibration. Luminaires must be attached to pole when installed.

Specification Sheet
LLC7811, LLC7812, LLC7814
The CT node is a luminaire-based control device that connects
your street light to the Interact City lighting management
system.
The CT node uses cellular communication to remotely manage,
monitor and control each street light individually.
The CT node controls the street light by switching the mains
supply and provides dimming by means of a digital (DALI) or
analog (1-10V) interface.

• The CT node is mounted to the luminaire by twist-
locking it onto the 3, 5 or 7-pin NEMA receptacle.
• The CT node provides true plug and play commissioning: it automatically connects to the
mobile network, automatically locates itself with the onboard GPS, and automatically uploads its asset
data to the lighting management system.• The CT node works together with any certified D4i
motion sensor.• The CT node includes a tilt sensor to get instant
notification in case the orientation of the luminaire
and/or pole changes significantly.
• The CT Node works with street lights from almost any
manufacturer• The CT Node is available in different colors to match
the color of the luminaire.

The CT node is a luminaire-based control device that connects
your street light to the Interact City lighting management
system.
The CT node uses cellular communication to remotely manage,
monitor and control each street light individually.
The CT node controls the street light by switching the mains
supply and provides dimming by means of a digital (DALI) or
analog 1-10V interface.
