A Community Juneteenth Celebration
Invitation/Information
Adrianna Hirtler - 2024 Richard B Fischer Award Recipient
Members of the Conservation Board presented the award to Adrianna at a tree planting ceremony at the Town of
Ithaca’s Tudor Park. The group planted an American Basswood tree in an open area near the stream.
Adrianna was honored for her years of dedicated engagement in monitoring the health of the streams and
biological communities of the Cayuga Lake watershed. From her chalkboard outreach kiosk on the Six Mile Creek
bank in Titus Triangle Park, to her field trips wading creek riffles for Benthic Macroinvertebrate sampling with
interested youth and their families, to her evening open BMI Langmuir Lab nights, and help analyzing possibly
harmful algal blooms brought from lakeshores to Community Science Institute’s laboratory, Adrianna has brought
her enthusiastic interest in Ithaca’s waters both to the public and to a scientifically sound database rich with
important information about them.

Yard Work and Handy Man Services Needed
to Assist Older Adults
Tompkins County Office for the Aging maintains a list of individuals who would be willing to do yard work
and/or Handy Man services for older adults. Summer is almost here, and many older adults are unable to do
those type of chores or have small tasks that need to be done around the house.
We are updating our list, and we need more workers. Specifically, we need people who are willing to work in
rural areas. If you are interested in opportunities on either a paid or volunteer basis, please call the Office at
(607) 274-5482 or visit our website or find us Facebook @TCofficefortheaging.
