PRIDE Ithaca is inclusive. We believe PRIDE is for everyone…. This year’s PRIDE Week celebrations include Education Opportunities, Health Screenings, Drag Performances, Dance Parties, and more happening in and around the Commons. Cornell Campus Road Closure College Ave between the stone arch bridge and Campus Rd will close from June 12 to August 10, 2023, for a major water main replacement project. Hollister Drive at Snee Hall will remain open from the south to allow access to loading docks, however, parking will be limited due to project staging on the south side of the parking lot closest to Ward Center. A signed detour route will be in place to guide motorists around the work zone. There will be minor detours to pedestrian traffic. Please comply with all flagger instructions, be patient, and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Visit TCAT for service updates and alerts or download one of the real-time transit apps to view vehicle locations and search for a stop, either by name or stop number. For updates and other alert messages go to https://cuinfo.cornell.edu/alerts 2023 Ridgecrest Road Water Improvements Project A new water main will be constructed along Ridgecrest Road from 130 Ridgecrest to 172 Ridgecrest Road. As part of this project, the existing water main running from 130 Ridgecrest Road through 176 Ridgecrest Road will be put on a Booster Pump Station to help improve water pressure in the area. The Project will be starting at the end of the month with F.P. Kane Construction, Inc. mobilizing and staging equipment. Periodic lane closures may result in traffic delays, please plan accordingly. Access to all properties along Ridgecrest Road will remain at all times. Any plantings, lawn fixtures or decorations, and/or hardscaping or “invisible fence” or similar components within the town’s right-of-way should be moved before construction begins. The Town and/or contractor is not responsible for maintaining, protecting, or restoring any underground facilities or components or any landscape features encountered or disturbed during construction within the right-of-way. Customers along Ridgecrest currently have a pressure range of 20-57 P.S.I. +/- and this be increased to 40-77 P.S.I. +/-. Customers should make sure they have the proper pressure reducing valve (PRV) in place and that it is in working order (as required by code). If you are not familiar with this valve, please contact Bolton Point, the Town of Ithaca, and/or your local plumber. You may experience short periods of low pressure and minor water interruptions during construction; you will be notified by Bolton Point 24 hours prior to interruption whenever possible. Town Adopts Revised Provisions Related to Solar Facilities The Town has revised regulations to allow larger solar arrays in certain areas of the town to promote our Green New Deal Goals. If you are interested in filling one of these open seats and would like more information please contact the Town Clerk at Clerks@town.ithaca.ny.us Community Program Events The Town supports a number of Community Programs to promote access and usage by our residents, here are some opportunities below TCPL Hosting Summer Baby Storytime Through August 25 Tompkins County Public Library is hosting Summer Baby Storytime outdoors on Fridays from 10:30 to 11:00 am, June 9 through August 25. Caregivers and their babies are invited to join Cassie at the Marc Leathers Park (next to the Henry St. John Building at 301 S. Geneva St. in Ithaca) for music, rhymes, movement and books. On days when it’s wet outside or there’s a heat advisory, storytime will meet in the Thaler/Howell Programming Room at TCPL. Open House The Learning Web has dedicated themselves to enabling our local youth of all kinds to thrive as self-assured, self-directed, and productive adults. By offering a developmental series of community-based learning experiences tailored to the interests and complex needs of each individual youth. To learn more come join them at their open house. Stewart Park Officially named on the National Register of Historical Places, recognizing and highlighting its cultural and historical significance in the community.
