SUBJECT: UPCOMING CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING – JULY 2, 2015
This is to confirm that the next meeting of the Conservation Board (CB) is Thursday,
July 2nd at 5:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is enclosed (see the back of this
memo). The draft minutes from the May 7, 2015 and the June 4, 2015 meetings are
attached.
At this meeting we will have Lima Hossain, a student from Ithaca College’s School of
Humanities and Sciences (Economics and Mathematics Program), join us to discuss the
details of the project she is looking at this summer as part of the Summer Scholars
Program.
We will also have the discussion on long term water planning for the Ithaca area, which
was originally scheduled for the June meeting. Mara Alper (Associate Professor, Media
Arts, Sciences and Studies, Ithaca College) will be attending the meeting to help lead
this discussion.
We will also look to finalize the plans for the July 16th NY Invasive Species Awareness
Week event – “Managing Ithaca Invasives”. The event is scheduled for Thursday, July
16th from 6 – 7pm at the Town’s water tank near the end of Teton Court, and will be a
combination of educational and some removal of invasives (swallow wort and garlic
mustard) in the area.
Elizabeth has volunteered to take minutes at the July meeting.
