HomeMy WebLinkAboutLL 12 of 1998 Sewer Use Reqs & Pollutant LimitationsTOWN OF ITHACA LOCAL LAW NO.12_OF THE YEAR 1998 A LOCAL LAW AMENDING LOCAL LAWS NO.1 OF THE YEAR 1984 RELATING TO SEWER USE REQUIREMENTS AND NO.18 OF THE YEAR 1992 RELATING TO LOCAL POLLUTANT LIMITATIONS TO ESTABLISH REVISED POLLUTANT LIMITATIONS Be it enacted by the Town Board of the Town of Ithaca as follows: Section 1.Local Law No. 18 for the year 1992,entiUed "A LOCAL LAW AMENDING LOCAL LAW NO.1 OF THE YEAR 1984 REGULATING THE USE OF PUBLIC SEWERS AND DRAINS,PRIVATE WASTEWATER DISPOSAL,THE INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION OF BUILDING SEWERS,AND THE DISCHARGE OF WATERS AND WASTES INTO THE PUBLIC SEWER SYSTEMS,THE TREATMENT AND PRETREATMENT OF INDUSTRIAL WASTES,AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION OF SUCH FACILITIES AND THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS LAW TO ESTABLISH REVISED POLLUTANT LIMITATIONS",amending Local Law No. 1 of the year 1984, is hereby amended as follows: 1.Section 1 entitled "Purpose and Applicability",paragraph A, is amended to read as follows: "A.The purposes of this law are to set forth specific discharge limitations (hereafter referred to as local limits) to prevent Pass Through and Interference, to protect the safety and health workers at the Ithaca Area Wastewater Treatment Facility (POTW),and to improve opportunities to recycle and reclaim municipal and industrid wastewaters and sludges." 2.Section 2 entitled "Definitions"is amended to read as follows: "2.Definitions. Section 4, entitled "Applicabilityof Other Requirements and Prohibitions" is amended by adding at the end thereofthe phrase "as it may be revised from to time." Section 2. In the event that any portion of this local law is declared invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction,the validity of the remaining portions shall not be affected by such declaration of invalidity. Section 3. This local law shall become effective ten (10) days after its enactment,or, if later,upon the filing of a copy of same with the office of the Secretary of Stateof the State of New York.
